Astros-Mets tie-breaker site set

Sports Network | September 26, 2008

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Should there be a need for a tie-breaking game between the New York Mets and Houston Astros to decide the National League wild card champion, Major League Baseball has determined the site will be Shea Stadium.

The decision was made via a coin flip, though could be rendered moot as the Astros trail the Mets and Brewers by 3 1/2 games going into the final weekend of the season.

Houston will host Atlanta this weekend. The Astros need to win all their games and have the Brewers and Mets lose theirs to remain alive. Milwaukee hosts the Chicago Cubs this weekend, while the Mets are at home versus Florida.

Should the Astros somehow get within a half-game following Sunday, they'd be forced to play a make-up game against the Cubs on Monday.
