Game Thread

Jd is out, so I'm posting this for him. SO here goes. Milton is pitching against Wandy( what kind of name is that?) Rodriguez. Neither have a win yet this year so let's hope this one will belong to the reds.   Like I asked  JD last night, why can't we let one of the good pitchers close the game? GO REDS!
Love, Mrs. RR :)

Tuesday Links

  • This has nothing to do with baseball, but I found it amusing. J.J. Redick was arrested and charged with a DWI last night. Those Dukies, such clean kids.
  • Dean Taylor has left the Reds and joined the Kansas City organization. This is a good thing.
  • Adam Dunn doesn't know who Eric Davis is.
  • This has been a long time coming. I hate the Pirates though, so I don't feel for them like I do for Kansas City. Anything coming out of Pittsburgh is pretty much pure evil.
  • Jason Grimsley has been slapped with a 50 game suspension. I love the line over at Baseball Primer: "Shocking.  No wonder he hit so many homers." That's the great paradox of the whole steroids thing, the fact that so many pitchers were apparently using.
  • This is an awesome article. I love glimpses of minor league life.

Game Thread: Game 61 vs. the Cubs

TIME: 7:10 @ GABP

CUBS PROBABLE:
                 REDS PROBABLE:
Greg Maddux (6-5, 4.77)        Elizardo Ramirez (2-4, 3.95)

Maddux hasn't been pitching well at all lately, so hopefully the Reds can keep this streak alive.

Go Reds!

Daily Link Dump 4/11

Baseball Minutia discusses the Reds big offensive start.

JinAZ has more on drafting strategies. I love this kind of stuff.

This is all over the internet, so you've probably seen it by now. But just in case, 1986 World Series Game Six Re-enacted in RBI Baseball.

Redleg Nation has put together an organizational depth chart. I'll probably use that as an excuse to never bother updating mine again. That thing ended up being a giant pain in the ass.

A lot of people are getting pretty pissed off at MLB.com's billing department:

We've received a couple of complaints about MLB.com's billing service. People like Colleen and `Major Steel' love being able to listen to home or away radio broadcasts of every game, live and archived for fifteen bucks for the season. What they abhor is their credit card being billed three times.

Or being automatically debited for a new subscription after they had already decided not to renew.

When they try to call in and get it resolved, the customer service line is always busy and/or hangs up on them. What's the deal?

Anybody here having any problems with MLB.com's services this year?

Here's a nice interview with Frank Thomas. I've always thought he's been underrated. But when you get stuck with the "bad guy" rep it gets pretty hard to get noticed for the good things, whether the rep was justified or not. And I don't think it was in Thomas' case, but you never really know.

Frank Robinson has been suspended. My wife thinks he's awesome incidentally. We were watching the Nats-Mets game when Pedro started and all of that went down, and she thought it was great how crazy Frank went. The umpires seemed really intimidated by him.

If you're looking for another fantasy league, check this one out. We're going to have a tiered structure next year if we can get this second league filled, where the top six teams from each league will play in the top league, while the bottom division teams will play in the other. This should help hold people's interest throughout the season, since finishing in the top half will mean something.

Spring Training Game Thread: Philadelphia

Brandon Claussen vs. Ryan Franklin

To go with my post below, here's Randy Johnson on Edwin Encarnacion:

"Who is that kid?" the Big Unit said after allowing a two-run homer and an RBI double to Encarnacion in the Cincinnati Reds' 4-1 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday.

[...]

"I knew who Juan Encarnacion was -- the guy who played with Cincinnati and with Florida," Johnson said jovially. "Maybe that's his brother or cousin or something like that. A pretty good hitter, though."

Game discussion goes here.

Baseball Blogging

I know a few other baseball bloggers read this site, so I thought I'd pass this along:

Baseblogging

It's new, but I think a resource for baseball bloggers is an interesting concept.  I'll leave the meta talk to people who do that sort of thing, but I know that many (most?) baseball bloggers are constantly struggling to be taken seriously and to gain access to the inner sanctum.  A resource like this could be quite valuable when it comes to those sorts of things.
