So, how many former Reds are on this list?

The Reds make their players pay for WiFi while traveling

+

Stephanie Apstein has a brilliant expose of one of the key components of Major League Baseball operations: in-flight WiFi while teams travel, and who foots the bill for such extravagance. In all seriousness, it's a pretty funny look at something that sounds trivial but has become such a mainstay in our lives that it's impossible to escape. And, in the process, she discovered that only two teams in the game don't pay for their players to have internet access while traveling - the mighty New York Yankees and your Cincinnati Reds. Two ends of the financial spectrum, meaning two differing reasons as to why they don't foot that bill. The Reds!

Joey Votto boldly predicts where no man has predicted before

+

The Cincinnati Reds are going to win the 2023 World Series. Joey Votto and Marvin the Martian are going to take them to the promised land.

Reds to play Athletics in Las Vegas during Spring Training

+

The Athletics playing baseball in Las Vegas? You don't say! They'll face the Reds in a spring training showcase on March 4-5, in case anyone's interested in making the trek out to see two rebuilding clubs that early in spring action.

Cincinnati Reds decline 2023 option on pitcher Mike Minor

+

The Cincinnati Reds have predictably decline the 2023 team option on pitcher Mike Minor, instead buying him out for a cool million bucks. Minor, who was roasted for a 6.06 ERA when not on the IL during the 2022 season, had a $13 million team option on the deal he originally signed with the Kansas City Royals prior to being traded to the Reds before the 2022 season. The Reds will now have only Mike Moustakas and Joey Votto under guaranteed contracts for the 2023 season as free agency (hahahahahha) heats up.

The Cincinnati Reds have released Shogo Akiyama

+

We knew over the weekend that outfielder Shogo Akiyama wasn't going to the make the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day roster. The only question remaining was whether or not he'd accept being optioned to the minors, something he did not have to do given the legalese in his contract. He has apparently refused said assignment, prompting the Reds to release him outright today. They'll be on the hook for his $8 million salary this year, and it remains to be seen whether or not he gets picked up by another MLB club on the eve of his 34th birthday. Happy trails, Shogo.

JAWS and the 2022 Hall of Fame Ballot: Scott Rolen

+

Not much to get excited about Cincinnati Red-player wise for the Hall of Fame ballot this year. Scott Rolen is the closest we have. I didn’t like Rolen when he was with Philly and really didn’t like him when he was with St. Louis but grew to respect & like him when he came to Cincy. I hope Rolen gets in, if not this year then maybe a year or two down the road

Fox Sports pulls Thom Brennaman from NFL broadcasts

+

AP reporter Joe Reedy has relayed that Fox Sports, who broadcasts multiple NFL games weekly during the season, has "pulled" Thom Brennaman from their upcoming fall schedule. No word yet on how long that will be, or whether it's suspension or termination.
