Autism Awareness Month & the MLB

Pretty cool -- as the father of an autistic child, I appreciate stuff like this. The Reds are hosting their day on April 13.

Larger than Life Johnny Bench

This painting was added to the dealership today. It was done at the 2012 Johnny & Friends event to raise money for the character and courage foundation. I was lucky enough to be there that night. This is a very large painting and was completed in about 10 minutes. I'm excited that it's now a centerpiece at my place of business.

The newest (old?) Reds Nickname

Porkopolitans! I'm all for reviving this nickname.

Robert Stephenson's Value

OK, I know no one reads FanShots, but follow the link to weigh in on how valuable Robert Stephenson will be to the Reds. If all goes well, I'll do this for a number of prospects and then report back the results.

The Joey Votto Foundation

I'd describe this in more detail, but I'll let Joey's words do the talking. I will say, however, that I'm not just continually fascinated by how endearing he is, but I'm also amazed at how open and revealing he is with the struggles he went through just a few years ago. Check it out.

Reds claim Pedro Beato, dump Corky and Reynolds off 40-man roster

C Corky Miller and RHP Greg Reynolds outrighted and elected free agency. Claimed from Red Sox and added to 40-man roster RHP Pedro Beato (BEE-ahto). Beato is 27. He went 5-3 with a 2.98 ERA in Triple-A and 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 10 games for the Red Sox.

Reds may be looking to trade Bailey, per Sheldon

Well, huh. (Relevant stuff is in the rotation section of the article)

Pete Rose is a sleazebag. He's also right.

"And to be honest with you, I picked the wrong vice. I should have picked alcohol. I should have picked drugs or I should have picked up beating up my wife or girlfriend because if you do those three, you get a second chance. They haven't given too many gamblers a second chance in the world of baseball." Anyone remember the Yankees' Steve Howe? He was suspended from baseball 7 times for drugs. and reinstated 7 times. Baseball made an agreement with Pete Rose: After one year of his lifetime ban, he could reply for reinstatement. To my mind, that meant when Rose applied for reinstatement, baseball was obligated to respond, yes or no. Selig acknowledged that he was considering Rose's application, leading to speculation that Rose's return might be imminent. Ultimately, however, Selig took no action. What Rose did was wrong. Some of what baseball has done to him is also wrong.

Robert Stephenson Scouting Report

I posted the video of Stephenson's High-A debut not too long ago, and here's my personal scouting report him. I am very high on him, as are people I've spoken with.
