Tony La Russa Announces Retirement

It's like a blog losing it's most annoying internet troll.

Crolfer is famous

Neil Patrick Harris saw my Dr. Horrible costume. Whoa.

Super F. Lewis, indeed!

Chad Reineke and Fred Lewis won't be returning to the Reds next year. While these moves are expected, it's always nice to see the FO make moves along the same lines of thinking as we espouse here at RR. Hat tip to Jamie Ramsey on this "news."

Offseason Outlook: Cincinnati Reds

MLBTR takes a look at the Reds and their offseason.

Aroldis Chapman pitches in the AFL this afternoon

ANOTHER UPDATE: Chapman pitched an inning of relief: 16 pitches, 8 strikes, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB. UPDATE: Chapman isn't listed as the scheduled starter, but he's supposed to pitch 2-3 innings at some point during today's game against Salt River. Mark Sheldon reported last week that Chapman would appear in the AFL on October 24, 27, and 31 before heading to Puerto Rico for winter ball. I don't know if he is starting today, or how many innings/pitches he'll throw. All I know is he will appear on the mound for the Phoenix Desert Dogs sometime this afternoon, and the game starts at 3:30 EDT. Click the link for the league scoreboard.

The Hardball Times' Top Ten Postseason Series Of All Time

The 1975 Reds-Red Sox World Series comes in at #3. Wait, the Reds won that series? I thought Carlton Fisk won the series, defeated the Reds, and saved the world from alien invasion with his home run off the foul pole in game 6. Sadly, I think they got it wrong. The best postseason series I've ever seen in my life comes in at #2, when it should have been at the top.

Theo-cracy officially begins in Chicago

Boston's compensation for releasing Epstein a year early has not been revealed, but his departure is official. The Cubs and Sox will hold pressers on Tuesday. Alongside monopolizing the NLCS and the Astros at the crux of realignment plans, the NL Central is a happening place. The Reds short-term window is still as open as it ever was.

Chapman scheduled to make 3 appearances in Arizona Fall League

Mark Sheldon brings us the news that Chapman's Return to Starting Pitching tour will make a stop through Arizona. The nickname "Buena Wrista Crucial Sub " will no longer be usable (if it ever was) in a matter of days as Chapman has been tapped to pitch Oct. 24, 27 and 31 in the AFL, as a prelude to Puerto Rican winter league action. No word on what team, but my guess would be the Phoenix Desert Dogs. La Liga de Béisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico gets started on November 4.

MiLB.com names Reds' organizational All Stars

Here's their lineup. The most controversial pick is probably Grandal over Mesoraco for catcher - though Meso gets the DH nod - and the snubs of Corcino and Boxberger. C Yasmani Grandal 1B Neftali Soto 2B Henry Rodriguez 3B David Vidal SS Billy Hamilton OF Jeremy Hermida OF Yonder Alonso OF Ryan LaMarre DH Devin Mesoraco Righty SP: Josh Smith Lefty SP: Tony Cingrani Reliever: Drew Hayes
