Reds beat Phillies 8-2, post-game wrapup
After a comment by BubbaFan, I think it might be a good idea to do these, at least until the gamethreads speed up.
Voltron was fantastic. If not for Cueto, he would easily be the most exciting new piece to our team, and we have a lot of them. His fastball is ridiculous, and the changeup is probably better. And today, he had the slider working really well, too. Just hairy stuff. Can't wait to see what these guys do this year.
As I mentioned in the gamer, Keppinger and Patterson are driving the offense so far. Phillips and Junior had big games at the plate, but our 1-2 guys have been doing pretty much everything right with their bats. I don't expect that to last, but I'm very pleased with their contributions so far (not to mention Patterson's defense).
Though it's only been 6 games, I'm starting to get really optimistic about this season. The pen has been good, which I kind of expected. I think we're going to be dramatically better from the sixth inning on this year.
Series finishes off tomorrow at 12:30. Go Reds.

This is a bit of a mismatch, with Edinson making his NL debut against Philly's ace. But I guess that's what happens when our ace faces their garbageman.
I'd like to remind everyone of a quote from the other day, after Cueto became the first person to debut with 10 strikeouts and no walks. From Kent Mercker to John Fay: "You know what, Volquez is just as good."
