Does anyone know..
how to research how individual players have performed against specific teams?

by Caleb on May 12, 2007 8:30 PM EDT reply actions

Sure
go to baseball-reference.com, enter in the player's name and then click the "Splits" option. Individual's performance vs. team is about 3/4s down.

Here's Dunn's info

www.baseball-reference.com
Search for the player

Above his career stats, the blue title bar has a section called "Splits."  Click that for his career splits, opponent splits are about 3/4 of the way down.  You can use the box next to it to search for splits in certain years.

Bats win a close one
Joey Votto hit the go-ahead homer in the 8th, and Anderson Machado made it stand up with a great diving catch in the 9th.

Homer Bailey didn't get the win, since he was pulled in the 6th.

shame the Reds don't play the Dodgers more
I still dislike them from the 70's. I'd rather see them a few more times than say the Astros 18x per season

Fantasy
I have Penny and Lohse both starting in the Joe Morgan league.  Here's to dual no-hitters into the 9th and the Reds winning it with 18 runs in the 10th!

Seriously though, Dodgers 3, Reds 1

I feel this game to be very similar to last night's...

Looked like he lost it in the air, made a basket catch.  They showed Lohse's face after it, he looked like a deer in headlights.

can't believe it
Okay, I don't usually bash Narron and have often been annoyed at how much it happens on here.  However, with two outs, I don't walk Laroche to load the bases.  I just don't.  With one out, maybe, to set up the dp.  But, I just knew that was a mistake when he made the call.  Then, walk the pitcher, bloop hit to left, center, and an infield single.  Then, a successful hit and run.  How frustrating.  Lohse did not look nearly as bad as the box score will read.

Strike zone is outstanding so far in this series
Anyone else been noticing how the reds havent got a single close call at the plate. Zone shrinks to nothing once a dodger gets on base. I dont like to complain about strike zones but this is just annoying me

i don't mind it to the eighth hitter
with a base open and runners on. You should be able to retire the pitcher without a run scoring

by Caleb on May 13, 2007 8:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Depends on the pitcher.
Brad Penny lookin' ok so far this season. I should have been more specific with my dislike - I dislike how/when Jerry Narron utilizes the IBB is more accurate.

this is getting hard to watch
I walked in the door and it was 2-1 Dodgers.  It couldn't have been but two minutes later it was 6-1.  Good golly.  Pop ups falling in and weak infield hits following walks.

Someone is going to get fired soon.

Narron should be gone
Narron should be fired tomorrow for running up the teams best pinch hitter in the 5th inning with 2 outs and no one on down 5 runs. I would love to see the reds come up later in the game 6-5 with the bases loaded and have to run castro up there

Kinda glad I missed this one.  Had a long ride home and sounds like Santos had a yeoman's effort.

Marty stated lot of holes on this ballclub, starting with the bullpen. And Kriv told him Narron was safe, not even on the radar.
