Game Thread: Game 140 vs. the Giants

TIME: 12:35 @ Great American Ball Park

GIANTS PROBABLE:
                           REDS PROBABLE:
Jonathan Sanchez (2-0, 1.37)              Sun-Woo Kim (0-0, 19.29)

Not really sure if I'm happy about seeing Sanchez instead of Noah Lowry, but I guess we'll be finding out. Sanchez played his college ball at Ohio Dominican, so he's sort of a local guy.

Kim's 19.29 ERA is just funny to look at. He's been ok at AAA this year though, and he has a nice GB/FB ratio, so we'll see I guess.

Win here, get back to .500 heading into a series with Pittsburgh. You can't really ask for more than that.

Go Reds!

Good gamble
Kim is the perfect type of pitcher for the Reds to take a gamble on.

Ground ball tendency. Young. Cheap.

Dirty Sanchez
I've heard that Jonathan Snachez has filthy stuff.  Maybe he should be referred to as "Dirty Sanchez."

by neckbeard on Sep 6, 2006 8:16 AM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, he has closer stuff out of the pen
And he's starting. He'll probably shut down the Redlegs unless we manage to work the count and hit the ball a little once it's worked.

Im sure glad we get an ESPN Game
And the best we have to send out is Sun-Woo Kim and his (in the words of George Grande) "Brilliant" 19.29 ERA.   So just maybe if the Reds score three touchdowns today we could actually win back to back games.

extra points
I'm sure our kicker would miss at least one of the extra points and we'd come up short on a two point conversion.

Reds

Dunner   lf
Edwin   3b
Ross    c

The Giants are going with the get away lineup.  No Vizquel, Feliz, Bonds, or Winn.  Lets hope we can get some runs, and Early.

if sun woo kim somehow wins this game
and i dont know how he will, unless he's been perfecting a gyroball, than here comes the sun should be our official rally song. Because:

I love the Beatles and
The part of Abbey Road where that song comes on is right after the flip, after "I Want You Shes So Heavy" has taken you down emotionally to about as sad and confused as you can be. Then along comes George's masterpiece (which he wrote in Eric Clapton's garden) and the rest of the album is the most beautiful piece of music ever laid down one one album side.

All that being said, seriously, how in the world could Sunny get a win here?

Shea Hillenbrand
Has a higher batting average and does not strikeout as much as Dunn.  He also does not hit as many homeruns.  As far as Michael is concerned, Hillenbrand is better.  What's more, he is not overpaid either, and he had a sacrifice fly in the first.  Definitely better than Dunn.

he didnt mean i nhis lifetime
he meant with days off being the way they are. But guys like tejada have shown you can play every day. When Ripken did it, there werent a lot of guys playing every day either. He was the exception.

Dont be fooled into believing any record "Will never be broken." Even DiMagio's (sp?) will at some point. Forever is a long time, and it encapsulates everything.

Notes: Records like Cy Young's win mark will need a dramatic shift in philosophy, as most modern pitchers dont get as many career starts as he's had wins.
