Game thread overflow/Random drunk talk

Hey, did everybody know that Adam Dunn's game lacks savvy?  I just have to get up to 300 characters so this will allow me to post the thread to continue the drunk rambling.  Am I rambling?  Anyway, hopefully this is 300.  Well, apparently, it's not, so I have to continue typing in order to post this as a diary.  Maybe JD will promote this to the blog.  That would be my first time promoted to the blog.  That would be cool.

Obama is fantastic...
I still think if the DNC has a brain, they'll nominate Mark Warner for President in '08.  Centrist democrat with a strong following in a southern state.  A Warner/Obama ticket would be strong, setting up Obama for a presidential run in the future.

ewwwwwwwww
Ohio is once again stuck with out a viable choice in several races. I'm sitting this election out, voting only on local issues. It is no longer a government of the people, by the people, for the people. It is a governemnt of the wealthy, elitists who will eventually eliminate the middle class. And I feel both parties are to blame. Until there is a legitimate third party choice it isonly going to get worse. How about a Common Sense Party?

I've seen Apes a couple times, but like I said, I really enjoy them.  Live, they've got kind of a Black Sabbath-ish rhythm section, with punk and funk elements over top of that.  Mixed with a huge dose of weird.

I hope to go to the Black Cat tomorrow actually to see the Electric Six.  They're a really funny band if you've never heard of them, and can bring the rock.

again, at the Black Cat.  I love that venue!  Although you have to be in the front.  But they get some incredibly great bands, and you can get right up next to the stage and rock your heart out.  The low ceilings make it feel like a basement show almost.  And usually the artists will hang out before and after the show, and you can chat with them.  So cool!

there are plenty of places in VA.  apparently DC has five hundred red sox bars.  i just went to a place on wednesday after the webb rally, an irish pub - pat troys.  good guinness.  i'm kind of sick of dc bars, which only shows how often i go to them, but i wouldn't mind going back to that place.  i'm sure they have fox monopoly baseball on, which is the nats, so that isn't bad.

The library!
I don't do anything illegal, and my collection boasts hundreds of thousands of albums!  I go to the public library to get my music; not always convenient, as I sometimes wait months with in-demand albums on hold for me, but it's free, good quality, and you get to see the liner notes and whatnot.

Eh, I'd only really care
if I was reproducing it en masse to make some kind of profit on it.  Whatever, the legality isn't enough to trouble me; if I made any kind of money (monthly income doesn't quite cover rent), I would surely buy more CDs.  As it stands, I already buy plenty and don't do any downloading.  I've given the music industry an appropriate amount of my cash (the vast majority of which will not find its way to the artists) and the library wasn't charging me for it anyway.  As long as I don't lose or break it, I feel fine.  Plus, if I burn it and return it right away, more people can have access to it than if I kept it checked out for two weeks.

On my computer,
I have Guster playing right now.  Very interesting 3-piece sound with 2 vocalists/guitarists, no bass and a drummer who plays bongos, congas and cymbals all with his hands.  They play a great live show if you get the chance.  Saw them at Wolf Trap a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it.

Guster actually had the coolest thing I've ever seen at a concert.  They played at Newport in Columbus (indoor venue) and at the end of their encore, they asked everybody to "shut the hell up."  They unplugged all their instruments and microphones and played a song called "Mona Lisa" completely unplugged.  I had goosebumps walking out of the Newport that night.

Looks like we're 4.5 back..
Houston just took a 7-3 lead vs stl, which means we're nowhere near eliminated. If we win tomorrow and sweep the reeling Marlins, who knows.

And the Mets lost again. They haven't been getting a lot out of Lastings Milledge.

Hmm.
You know, I was reading about the Mets new stadium. Apparently it will have a "exterior façade that is punctuated by granite and limestone pilasters".
