9/11

I think it's fortunate there isn's a Reds game this evening. I think I'm going focus on spending every moment with the kids and wife.  I cant help but think there are about three thousand families that wish they had the same opportunity I did this evening.  Five years has flown by.  Hell, four years ago today I was at GABP for an afternoon ballgame, trying to find a little bit of peace and serenity....I still remember Danny Serafini was the starting pitcher.

My best friend was literally at the grounds of the WTC when the 2nd plane hit.  He was the last person to make it onboard a ferry back to NJ. He shared some pretty harrowing imagery.  I'll leave it at that, but even the folks on the perimeter came across some pretty ugly @#$%.

I'd like to see Patriots Day escalated to a mini-National holiday.  I remember the unity and brotherhood in the months after 9/11, but that has waned.  Left/right, conservative/liberal, carnivore/vegetarian, Bobcat/Redhawk...it all seems a little less important to me now.

UNITED States of America.  That's what is important to me.
