Game Thread: Game 79 vs. the Royals

TIME: 7:10 @ Great American Ball Park

ROYALS PROBABLE:
              REDS PROBABLE:
Bobby Keppel (0-4, 4.78)       Bronson Arroyo (9-4, 2.58)

Hey, game 79, which means we're almost half way there. So far so good, no?

I can't say I've ever heard of Bobby Keppel, but he's had a rough time his last three starts. Hopefully the Reds will be able to take advantage of a weak pitcher tonight.

Go Reds!

I guess I'll start off tonight...
Cards are off today - a Reds win puts us one game back.
Come on, Arroyo!

Homers in four straight!!

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:22 PM EDT   0 recs

NICE!
Really nice to see Griffey hitting them out at this rate. I'd love to see him get close to 40 HRs for the year.

Junior!
Crushes it to right. #552. Looks like his power stroke is back.

Hatteberg sends one deep to right
but it's caught one the warning track for out #3

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:25 PM EDT   0 recs

Hatteberg gives it a ride
But caught at the wall. 2-1 after 1.

Gaithright
1 for 7 lifetime vs Arroyo.

by ohiobobcat on Jun 29, 2006 7:28 PM EDT   0 recs

I'll tell you what, Ash
This Graffanino is a real gamer. He really knows how to play the game.

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:29 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

"I can do that, too!"
Strike 'em out, throw 'em out DP.

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:34 PM EDT   0 recs

buddy bell
Should try to steal more this series.

by ohiobobcat on Jun 29, 2006 7:34 PM EDT   0 recs

Gundown
Charlton Heston would be proud of Mr. Ross. Threw out Graff by 10 feet.

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:34 PM EDT   0 recs

Gathright
Is hitting 8th. You must be desperate for steals on your fantasy team, eh?

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:35 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Marc Lancaster and Marty on LaRue
Apparently LaRue's unhappy that he's not playing everyday. Marc and Marty discussed trading him, but point out that his contract is going to be a big obstacle. David Ross is hitting well, can call a good game, and plays good defense. Everything we already know.

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 7:35 PM EDT   0 recs

I've got Reyes too
But I'm this close to first in that league.  I definitly could use a couple more points there.

by DisplacedFan on Jun 29, 2006 7:36 PM EDT   0 recs

I think
Wayne must be wishing he would have taken whatever deal he had earlier in the Year for Larue (pure speculation)

by DisplacedFan on Jun 29, 2006 7:38 PM EDT   0 recs

rumor was
LA Dodgers.  I heard Brad Penny mentioned, but that seemed foolish then...even more so now...for the Dodgers.

Maybe Odalis and his fat contract.

by ohiobobcat on Jun 29, 2006 7:41 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I
was begginig to wonder.

by DisplacedFan on Jun 29, 2006 7:41 PM EDT   0 recs

good throw
Would have had him. He reallys deccelerted on the head first dive.

by ohiobobcat on Jun 29, 2006 7:43 PM EDT   0 recs

Phillips
Still makes the steal. 15/15.

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 7:43 PM EDT   0 recs

dealy
man, i must be on a long delay here... : (

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 7:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh, man...
BP picked off of second... Aargh.

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:45 PM EDT   0 recs

Phillips wastes it
Picked off at 2nd...not smart.

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:45 PM EDT   0 recs

i???
Is the the guy's first ML appearence?

by DisplacedFan on Jun 29, 2006 7:45 PM EDT   0 recs

The pitcher? Nope, he's 0-4
I think this is start #6 sor something like that

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I guess
I saw the wrong preview earlier or something.

by DisplacedFan on Jun 29, 2006 7:47 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Well
at least we start of the 3rd with the leadoff spot. Slap Brandon on the wrist.

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 7:46 PM EDT   0 recs

Keppel lines out to Kearns
Kearns really was positioned perfectly, that might have dropped if he was playing any farther back

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:49 PM EDT   0 recs

goes around comes around
Great tag by BP

by ohiobobcat on Jun 29, 2006 7:50 PM EDT   0 recs

7-4 assist
But give the credit to Phillips, who kept the tag on DeJesus as he slid past the bag.

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:50 PM EDT   0 recs

Oh, wow...
DeJesus singles to left, tries to make it into a double, and apparently slides past the bag. Out #3. 7-4.

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:50 PM EDT   0 recs

which makes me think...
not that he would have necessarily seen the same pitch, but dammit, Brandon, he might have done that with two on base...

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:53 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Felipe's on it tonight
It's not even a full moon!

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:53 PM EDT   0 recs

Dunn yanks it...
Into Kentucky.

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:54 PM EDT   0 recs

Dunn hits out #25!
I have no idea where that landed... I'm thinking Kentucky. Jesus.

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 7:54 PM EDT   0 recs

It was...
a majestic shot!!!

Sometimes
I love it when watching the Reds is like a game of Baseball Stars. HOMERUN!

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 7:56 PM EDT   0 recs

The back to back home runs
is like Baseball Stars, the video game. Everyone was talking about on the monday. Nevermind...

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 7:59 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Umpire's fault
Called two strikes that looked to be low and away...Keppel went back there and Junior had to swing at it, resulting in a groundout.

by teb7 on Jun 29, 2006 7:57 PM EDT   0 recs

3rd Inning
Dunn's homer was the 12 run we've scored in the 3rd inning this series... pretty crazy

by indy on Jun 29, 2006 7:59 PM EDT   0 recs

Good grief...
Most of those via the longball, no?

by Ash on Jun 29, 2006 8:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

9
In my best Steve Sewart voice: "9 of those 12 runs were scored via the homer run variety"

by indy on Jun 29, 2006 8:05 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Not to jump the gun here but
I'm liking Arroyos chances to pick up #10. How about the Reds with a pitcher on pace to be a 20 Game winner? Really great to see.

by satyanaas on Jun 29, 2006 8:01 PM EDT   0 recs

It might just be me
but I am finding Grande and Welsh to be helarious tonight. Especialy Welsh, who I guess is always pretty witty, but his "Bobby Kappel didn't even know who Bobby Kappel was this season" got a out loud laugh from me.

And Grande's response to the Dunn shot was funny too. I'm liking it alot.

by Brynhoe on Jun 29, 2006 8:02 PM EDT   0 recs

They're probably
just happy to be together again

run fat boy!!!! just kidding

Kearns grounds out, another close play at first
but still out #3...
Going to the 4th.
