Game 45 game thread

Go Reds! It's already 5-1 in the bottom of the second. - JD

Let's use this until JD gets the real thread up.

Arroyo is on the mound, and batting ninth, as the Reds are back at home taking on the Brewers.  Good.  We can beat the Brewers.

Anyone wanna guess the attendance for tonight at GABP?  I'll guess 13,050, slightly more than the Red Reporter attendance.

We need a winning streak, badly.

Go Reds!!!

a bit late getting here...
And already 5-0, Reds.  Not a bad start.

OK....
An extra base hit would blow the game wide open here.

To be honest,
I flipped on my computer a little bit nervous about what kind of score I'd see on the game tonight.  But 7-1 already?  I hope this is a sign that we're back.

Very strange night
For Arroyo.  Seems like hitters are missing his pitches entirely or tattooing them.

Marty and Steve
Marty asks Steve "Do you have a website like Bronson Arroyo?"

Steve: "No, it's just a blog"

Screw you Steve. :p

Normally
I might suggest that we save some runs for another night (as if that were possible), but after the way we've struggled, I need a blowout for psychological reasons.  Keep pouring it on!

Wow.
13 runs and still going.

Hopefully
Narron doesn't decide to give Todd Coffey some work tonight.

Sweet Sassy Molassy!
This is a fantastic game. Like Ben I need this blowout, and I bet the team feels the same way.

15-3 now
Get Coffey up and ready!

Offense is back!
Could have used a few of those runs the last couple weekends! It usually happens after a blowout, the Reds have trouble getting runs the next game. We'll see.

I needed that.
I didn't need the distraction from the Alias finale.

Countdown is at T-4.
Only four days left until Shackelford, Hammond or Burns is sent packing when Mercker is eligible to come off the DL.

And not a moment too soon.  I think Brian B could have gone out there and pitched the last two innings in a 15-1 game, and he might have given up fewer runs than the dynamic duo of Shackelford and Burns.

Pretty funny quotes from Mercker on mlb.com:

"Doctors told the pitcher that he had "an old elbow," not a surprising finding since the 38-year-old has been pitching in the big leagues since 1989.

"I was like, 'I could have saved $700 and 45 minutes and told you that before I got here," Mercker joked. "I've got an old knee. I've got old feet. I've got an old wife."

I did!  Did you like my Mike Burns jersey?  They were handing them out in the parking lot. . .

That must have been why...
It was 15-5 instead of 15-10.

Ross/Valentin/Larue
What a nice game for Ross. He's teased before, but his BB/K rate is much better than it's ever been in his major league career. Maybe this success will last.

You have to believe WK is burning up the phone lines, desperately trying to unload Larue. But I bet anyone who needs a C says they'll take Ross, but not Larue.

Kinda reminds me of my fantasy league where I was trying to unload Reitsma...let's hope Kriv has more success than I did.

Reitsma
I was watching him melt down and almost blow Hudson's win last yesterday.  Not looking good.  Remember those days when Reitsma seemed to be cruising along and then suddenly the ball seemed to be dialed right into the bat?  That's what it looked like.  He may be done closing very soon.
