Louisville Bats
Alfredo Simon started the games because the Reds are a bunch of freakin' idiots. He gave up 5 runs over 4 innings because he's bad at baseball, a bad person, and the Reds are stupid. Wandy "Wario" Peralta pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Jose "Pizza" Peraza had a hot game right before being called up to the Reds. He hit a 3 run dinger on a 2 for 4 night with a walk. Jesse Winker also had a helluva game by hitting a 2 run wanger and going 2 for 5. Hernan "The Barbarian" Iribarren was 3 for 5 with a double.
Robert Stephenson was bad, and Delino DeShields called him out for it. I'm sure the bashing from his manager had more to do with his lack of growth this season as a pitcher which is incredibly disconcerting. I'm usually not one for public admonition, but Stephenson has been bad this season. Something has to give. Stephenson pitched only 2 innings and gave up 6 earned runs. He allowed 4 hits, 4 walks, and struck out 2. That's not just bad, that's awful. Stephen Johnson pitched 3 scoreless with 4 strikeouts, A.J. Morris didn't register an out, hit, walk, or run scored, which is super weird, and Wandy Peralta was solid, again, by striking out 2 in 2 scoreless innings. Juan Perez hit a solo dinger and was 2 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI. Hernan Iribarren was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, and Jesse Winker had a RBI single and a walk.
Amir "Ball Is Life" Garrett was wild in this start. He allowed 3 earned runs (4 total) over 6.1 innings. However, he walked 5, gave up 5 hits, but did strikeout 6. Kevin "Rusty" Shackelford pitched 2 scoreless to pick up the save. Hernan "Capybara" Iribarren continues to just rake. He went 3 for 4 with a double. Juan Perez hit another 3 run dinger and was 2 for 4 while Kyle Waldrop was 2 for 4 as well. Jesse Winker walked twice. He truly is Joey Votto's son.
Rookie Davis will be on the mound at 7:05 PM EST
Pensacola Blue Wahoos
The Wahoos played two on Friday because of a rain out on Thursday.
Pesacola won a close in Game 1 behind a dominant performance by Double Barett Astin. He pitched 6 innings of 3 run ball with a walk and 8 strikeouts. Alejandro Chacin would enter to secure the save in the 7th (His 24th of the year) with a strikeout. The Wahoos' lone run was scored in the top of the 7th by a clutch pinch hit single by .183 hitter Taylor Sparks. Brandon "Mason" Dixon was 2 for 3 with a double and he scored that only run.
El'Hajjy Muhammad took the start in Game 2 and was awesome. He pitched 3.2 innings and only gave up 2 hits and zero runs. He walked 1 and struck out 7. Abel De Los Santos pitched 2.2 scoreless with a strikeout, and Carlos Gonzalez pitched a scoreless inning to pick up the save. Uncle Phil Ervin was 2 for 3.
On Saturday, because Pensacola and the Mississippi Braves love baseball, and are probably a bunch of assholes, they played a 16 inning game. In fact, both teams decided not to scored until that 16th inning. Slippy Sal Romano was fantastic (and he's been fantastic for a while now) pitched great. He went 8 scoreless innings and only allowed 4 hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out 8. He seemed to have a hard time adjusting to AA hitting, but has progressed nicely throughout the season. Jacob "Scritch Scratch" Ehret pitched 2 scoreless (3 K), Nick Routt 66 pitched 2 scoreless (1 K), Evan Mitchell pitched 2 scoreless (0 K), and Kyle McMyne "McNugz" pitched 1 scoreless (0 K). Pensacola had 14 hits in this one and only pushed 1 run across the plate. Brandon "Dicks What?" Dixon was 4 for 6 and had that lone RBI and a walk.
Nick Travieso started and was good. He allowed 2 runs (1 earned) over 6 innings. He struck out 3, walked 2, and gave up 8 hits. Carlos Gonzalez pitched 3 innings of relief and only gave up 1 run while striking out 2. Sebastian "Lizard People" Elizalde was 3 for 5 with a double and a RBI, and Brandon Dixon did the exact same thing. Taylor Sparks was 1 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI, and walk, and Eric Jagielo walked 3 times.
Tyler Mahle will pitch at 6:30 PM CT
Daytona Tortugas
Tejay "TJ" Antone gave up a lot of hits but kept the runs off the board for 3 innings (0 earned, 2 unearned). 10 hits were given up with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Call Me Ismael Guillon struck out 3 over 1.1 scoreless. Juan Duran Duran'd a 2 run dinger and was 2 for 4. Aristides "Heiress" Titties, Blake Trahan, Reydel Medina, and Jonathan Reynoso were all 2 for 4.
Keury "Hella" Mella has been better. He gave up 4 earned runs over 5 innings pitched. He allowed 7 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 4. Artistides Aquino had a RBI double, and the Tortugas had nothing else going.
Not touching that one. Might get a disease.
Daytona has Monday off and a double header on Tuesday.
Dayton Dragons
Jesus Reyes gave the Dragons a solid start but the bats weren't working for him. He pitched 6 innings and only gave up 2 runs but the weren't earned. He allowed 5 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 4. Lucas "Nasty Nati" Benenati pitched 2 scoreless with 2 strikeouts. Nick Senzel was 2 for 4 and hit a solo ding dong. It was his 7th of the year.
Austin "Big Brother" Orewiler was bad. He pitched 3 innings and gave up 4 earned runs. He allowed 5 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 2. Sandy "Beaches" Lugo pitched 3 scoreless and struck out 4. Brantley Bell was 2 for 2 with a solo homer and 2 walks. Nick Senzel yawned and miraculously was 1 for 3 with a walk. He's not even trying, guys.
Wendolyn Bautista pitched pretty well. He allowed 2 earned runs over 6 innings. He gave up 4 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 2. Unfortunately, the bullpenis reared its ugly head. Mitch Pitatnik was 3 for 4 and hit a solo dinger, and Shane "Big Name" Mardirosian was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI. Brantley Bell, Daniel "Too" Sweet, and Jose "Farte" Duarte all pitched in to this losing effort with 2 hit games.
Tony Santillan pitches tonight at 7:00 PM EST.
Billings Mustangs
Andrew Jordan took the mound and was pretty decent. He did give up 2 earned runs over 4 innings. However, he struck out 8 with only 1 walk and 6 hits allowed. Junior Arias pitched 2 scoreless with 3 strikeouts, and Jesse Stallings pitched 2.1 scoreless with 4 strikeouts. Taylor Trammell was 2 for 4 with a double, RBI, and his 20th steal of the season.
Scott Moss started and was fantastic. He pitched 6 scoreless innings and gave up 4 hits, 1 walk, and 7 strikeouts. Unfortunately, the bullpen and Pioneer League. Taylor Trammell was 2 for 4 with a RBI, a walk, and his 21st stolen base of the season. Jose Siri also went 2 for 4 and so did Montrell "Williams" Marshall. Hector Vargas hit a 2 run dinger, and John Sansone hit a solo dinger.
The pitching was puke. Taylor Trammell, again, had a good day. He went 2 for 4 with a walk. The Mustangs hit 4 homers. Hector Vargas and John Sansone hit solo shots, Montrell Marshall hit a 2 run dinger, and Michael Beltre hit a Grand Slam. Marshall was also 3 for 5 on the day.
Moises Nova pitches tonight at 7:05 PM.
Baby Reds
Tim Melville started the game and pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout. Matt "The Other" Blandino took over from there and pitched 6 innings of 1 hit ball. He gave up 8 hits, 0 walks, and struck out 6. Finding Dauri Moreta pitched 2 scoreless with 2 strikeouts. J.D. "And Turk" Salmon-Williams was 2 for 2 with 2 walks.
The Saturday game was rained out and I'm probably gonna be in bed before Sunday's game ends. Since RR doesn't work at my employment anymore (not my employers fault, but I think SBN) you'll have to figure out what happened on your own.
