Louisville was unable to overcome an early deficit as they fell to Indianapolis, 4-0. Homer Bailey made another rehab start and went 4 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. He was hampered somewhat by the defense behind him, as only 1 of his runs was earned. The offense was pretty non-existent for Louisville on Friday. Hernan "The Barbarian" Irbarren was 1 for 3 with a walk, Scott "Fruity Schebbles" Schebler was 1 for 3, and "Uncle" Jesse Winker was also 1 for 3. Chad "Sharkbait" Rogers struck out 3 in 2 scoreless innings of work from the bullpen.
Pensacola was rained out on Friday and played a double-header on Sunday.
Daytona got it handed to them on Friday, falling 8-1 to St. Lucie. Seth Varner got the start and was not good, giving up 9 hits and 5 earned runs in 5 innings of work. He did have 6 strikeouts against 0 walks if we're looking for positives. Michael "O" Sullivan didn't do much to help, as he gave up 3 earned runs in 0.2 innings of work. Ronald "Kinder" Bueno was 1 for 4 with a double, Angelo "Numb" Gumbs was 2 for 4, and Jonathan Reynoso "Horny" was 2 for 3 and scored a run. The Dragons were unable to hold onto an early lead on Friday, as they fell to Beloit, 9-5. Ty "Poppin'" Boyles was not good in his start, giving up 6 earned runs on 12 hits while walking 1 and striking out 6 over 6 innings of work. Shane "In the Membrane" Mardirosian had a great night at the plate, smacking a dinger and hitting a double as a part of his 2 for 5, 2 RBI night. Mitch Piatnik! "At the Disco" was also solid, going 1 for 2 with a double, 3 walks, a run scored and 1 RBI. Tyler "TySteve" Stephenson was 1 for 3 with a walk and 1 RBI.
Billings had their game postponed due to "Incliment weather" on Friday.
The Baby Reds used a 6-run inning to come back and defeat the Baby Padres 10-8 on Friday. Tyler Mondile went 2 innings in the start and gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits. Gregory "Not Jonathan" Reinoso got the win pitching 2 scoreless innings while giving up 1 hit and striking out 3. Nadir Ljatifi was 2 for 4 with a dinger and 2 RBI, J.D. Salmon-Williams was 2 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI, and Mauro Conde was 1 for 4 with a run scored and 2 RBI.
Saturday, July 16
Louisville used a walk-off single in the 10th inning to defeat Indianapolis 3-2 in extras on Saturday night. Tim "That's an" Adleman, "Baby" got the start and pitched 4 shutout innings while giving up 4 hits and striking out 2. Carlos Triunfel was 1 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI, Jesse Winker was 1 for 3 with a double and scored a run, and Jermaine "Lee" Curtis was 1 for 4 and had the game-winning RBI. J.J. Hoover got the win striking out 1 in a scoreless 10th inning.
The Blue Wahoos used a 3-run first inning and a fantastic outing from Rookie "Edinson Volquez" Davis to defeat Jacksonville 5-2 on Saturday. The aforementioned Davis turned in one of his best starts this season, going 6 innings while giving up only 2 runs on 4 hits while only walking 1 and striking out 9. He also was 1 for 3 with a RBI to raise his season average to .278 on the season. Brandon Dixon "Chicks" also had a monster night for the Wahoos, going 3 for 4 with 2 dingers, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Alejandro "Jhoulys" Chacin struck out 2 in the 9th to earn his 17th save.
Things did not go any better for Daytona on Saturday, as they fell 7-0 to the Baby Mets in a rain-shortened game on Saturday. Tejay "T.J." Antone got the start and got his doors blown off, giving up 7 earned runs in 4.1 innings of work while walking 2 and only striking out 3. The offense did not fare much better for the Tortugas. Angelo Gumbs and Gavin "As I walk through" LaValley were both 1 for 3 with a double, and that's about it. Nolan Becker was solid, striking out 2 in 1.2 scoreless innings of work.
Dayton gave up 3 runs in the 8th to blow a 1-run lead and fall 5-3 to Wisconsin on Saturday. Austin "3:16" Orewiler got the start and went 5 innings, scattering 6 hits and giving up 2 runs while walking 1 and striking out 4. Tyler Stephenson was 2 for 4 on the night, James Vasquez was 2 for 4 with a solo dinger, Luis Gozalez was 1 for 3 with a RBI triple, and Reydel Medina was also 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run. Sandy "Julio" Lugo struck out 3 and gave up 2 hits in a scoreless inning of relief.
Billings defeated Orem 6-1 on Saturday to continue their hot start to the season. Scott Moss got the start and went 2 innings, giving up 3 hits and no earned runs while walking 1 and striking out 1. I'm not sure if he was pulled for an injury or if it was a "pitch by committee" game. Adrian Rodriguez came in and gave up only 1 run on 3 hits in 4.2 innings. Beau "F me like an" Amaral was 3 for 4 on the night and scored 2 runs. Taylor "I'll take the" Trammell was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI and Mitch "The Bee's" Trees was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and scored a run. Joel "Kourage" Kuhnel pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
The AZL Reds were able to hold off a late comeback from the AZL Padres in a 4-3 win on Saturday. Wennington "More Like WINnington" Romero got the start and pitched 5 innings, giving up 1 unearned run on 4 hits while walking none and striking out 8. Leandro "Barbosa" Santana was solid at the plate, going 1 for 2 with 2 walks, a double, a run scored, and 1 RBI.
Sunday, July 17
Louisville took the 4-game series from Indianapolis on Sunday with a 6-4 victory. Robert "Bob Steve" Stephenson got the start and had trouble getting the ball over the plate again. He went 6 innings and only gave up 2 earned runs on 2 hits, but walked 5 while striking out 4. Hernan Irbarren was 2 for 5 with a triple, RBI, and 2 runs scored, Jesse Winker was 1 for 3 with a double, walk, RBI, and a run scored, Jermaine Curtis was 1 for 3 with the same line as Winker, and Donald "Knockwurst" Lutz was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. J.J. Hoover got the save with .2 scoreless innings.
Amir Garrett starts against Columbus tonight at 7:05 PM ET.
The Blue Wahoos were held to only 1 hit in game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, as they fell 1-0 to Jacksonville. "General" Jackson Stephens got the start and was solid, going 5 innings and allowing only 1 earned run on 5 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4. Zach "The J is silent" Vincej collected the only hit in his 1 for 3 night and Phillip Ervin reached base twice via the walk. Kyle "Won't you be" McMyne struck out 1 in his scoreless inning from the bullpen.
Pensacola blew a late 3-run lead, but was able to get the win in extra innings last night against Jacksonville, 7-6. Sal Romano got the start and had a rough first inning, where he gave up all 3 of his earned runs. He would only give up one hit the rest of the way, bringing his total line to 5 innings, 4 hits, 3 earned, no walks and 6 strikeouts. Taylor "Jordynn" Sparks came in late as a pinch hitter and went 2 for 2 with a solo dinger, Brandon Dixon was 2 for 5 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored, Ray Change was 1 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Jeff "Peanut Butter and" Gelalich was 1 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Jacob "Record Scratch" Ehret pitched 2 scoreless of relief out of the bullpen.

Daytona struggled again on offense on Sunday, as the Tortugas fell to Jupiter 3-0. Wendolyn "Franderlyn" Bautista went 5.2 innings and gave up 6 hits, 3 runs (2 earned) while striking out 3. The offense was unable to muster only 3 hits, one each from Angelo Gumbs, Blake Trahan, and Garrett Boulware. Ismael Guillon, Alex "Danger" Powers, and Jimmy Herget all pitched scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Things did not get any better for Dayton on Sunday as they got blown out by Wisconsin, 16-5. Jose Lopez got the start and, like the rest of the pitching staff, was very bad. He gave up 7 earned runs on 8 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2 in only 2.1 innings of work. Chris Okey "Dokey" had a good day at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a double, a solo bomb, and 4 RBI. Mitch Piatnik was 2 for 5 with a run scored and 1 RBI, Shane Mardirosian was 2 for 5 with a triple, and Brantley Bell was 1 for 3 with a double, a run scored, and 2 walks.

Billings defeated Orem 7-6 on Sunday to improve to 7-6 on the season. Ian Kaholoa got the start and went 4 innings, scattering 7 hits and giving up 3 runs, 2 earned with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Taylor Trammell had another ho-hum 2 for 3 night with a walk and a run scored. John Sansome was 2 for 4 with a double, RBI, and run scored, Cassidy Brown was 1 for 3 with a walk, a run scored, and 2 RBI, and Jose Siri was 1 for 3 with a 2-run dinger. Junior Arias pitched 2.1 innings and earned the save.
