Farmers Only: Winning for America

U-S-A! U-S-A? - Laurence Griffiths

Except you, Louisville. Traitors. I blame Lutz.

  • Louisville got stomped by Indy, 9-3. Jason Bourgeois was 3-5, and Neftali Soto was 2-3 with double the doubles. Tim Crabbe gave up a run in 4 innings, but the bullpen voided their bowels all over everything and lost. Up next: David Holmberg (0-4, 5.75) goes America all over everybody's asses at 6:05.
  • Pensacola might as well be walking on the sun, or rather they walked off on the Suns, 3-2. Jesse Winker's walk-off smash mouth was the difference, making his only hit of the night count for the second game in a row. Stormin' Yorman Rodriguez was 2-4 from atop the order. In his last ten games, he's hitting .314/.442/.486 with 8 walks to just 6 strikeouts. Ben Lively struck out 7 in 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. New signee Scott Maine struck out 1 and allowed a hit to vulture the win. Up next: Somebody starts against Mobile at 7:05.
  • Bakersfield shut out Visalia, tanning the Rawhide, 5-0. Daniel Wright did his best Ben Lively impression, striking out 11 in 7 innings of 4-hit, no walk baseball. The 2013 10th-rounder out of Arkansas State has flashed brilliance this year, and that kind of performance will turn heads, especially in the Cal League. Cy's boy El'Hajj Muhammad got his first A+ action of the year, pitching a clean 8th inning with a walk. Sammy "Ratpack" Diaz was 3-4, and Sean Buckley hit a 3-run bomb. Beau Amaral pulled a Yorman, going 2-5 from the top of the order and playing center field. Up next: Ismael Guillon (0-1, 19.89) looks to shrink his whale-sized ERA against Modesto at 10:45.
  • Dayton completed the sweep of the TinCaps, beating Ft. Wayne 3-1. Jackson Stephens allowed just 1 run on 6 hits in 5.1 innings, with no walks and 4 K. Tanner Rahier did what it seems like he does every damn game, going 2-4 with a double, and the Jon Matthews Band was 2-4 as well. Up next: Amir Garrett (2-4, 4.20) tries to keep up his run of good starts against Bowling Green at 8:05
  • Billings rode a 3-run eighth to a 3-2 victory over Missoula. Cory Thompson was 3-5. Again. New signee Taylor Sparks, in his first Reds' action, went 2-3 with a double and a pair of walks, so take that, haters (the author says, looking awkwardly at himself in the mirror). Ty Washington continued the big day for organizational leadoff hitters, going 2-3 with a home run and two walks himself, and Jimmy "Darles Chickens" Pickens had a solo shot as well. Jeremy Kivel gave up 2 runs in 4.1 innings, with 5 K. Up next: Lucas Moran (1-0, 6.14) faces Missoula at 7:05.
  • The AZL Reds eked out a 4-3 win over the baby White Sox. Jacob Constante kept the buzzsaw going in the desert, striking out 3 in 5 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 5 hits and didn't walk anyone. Gavin "As I Walk Through" LaValley "of the Shadow of Death" took a look at his life and realized there's another 2-4 game to be had. Hector Vargas and Jonathan "I Hate Richie Incognito" Martijn both had 2 hits as well. Up next: AMERICA OFF DAY
