Louisville got checkmate'd by the Charlotte Knights in a back and forth affair, falling 9-8. Donald Lutz had a solid night, going 3-4 with a walk and an RBI. Ruben Goatse Gotay went 3-5, and honked his 14th wanger of the season. The pitching was pretty forgettable. Josh Smith gave up 4 runs in 5.1 innings, striking out 5 and walking one. Pensacola lost to the Lookouts 14-10 in large part thanks to a horrendous performance from Daniel Corcino. Lil' Volquez got tagged for 8 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. Corcino struck out 2, walked 4 and gave up a pair of long balls. After finding themselves in an 8-1 hole after 3 innings, the Wahoos mounted a very respectable comeback effort. Our Man, Yorman Rodriguez led the charge, going 3-4 with a grand slam, a walk, and 5 RBI. Seth Mejias-Brean went 2-5 with a solo dinger, and Ryan Wright went 2-4 with a double. Michael Lorenzen got a pinch hit appearance and drew a walk. Up Next: Jon Moscot (4-6, 2.82 ERA) is currently dueling the Lookouts in Chattanooga.
Bakersfield got tanned by Socrates Brito and the Visalia Rawhide, losing 6-4. Drew Cisco got knocked around a bit, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits, striking out 2 and walking none. Yovan Gonzalez went 2-3 with a double, and Zach Vincej went 2-5 with a stolen base. Up Next: The Blaze face off against the Rawhide at 10:45 ET. No starters announced yet.
Dayton lost in walkoff fashion, falling to Ft. Wayne 10-9. Amir Garrett gave up a mere 3 runs on 8 hits, striking out 2 and walking 1. Rowdy Radhames Quezada made his second appearance of the season, and gave up a pair of runs in 1.2 innings. Phil Ervin banged out 3 extra-base hits, and drove in 3 runs, going 3-5 with a double and 2 triples. JamRod McGruder went 2-6 with a double, and Daniel "-ManBear" Pigott went 1-4 with a 2-run triple.
