It's Oscar night! Justin will have to assure the people of China that stars actually do come out to shine. The Oscar thread is one that I look forward to every year, and I was shocked to see there wasn't one yet. So here we go! I have no DVDs (acquired legally or otherwise) to giveaway, or even terribly strong opinions about what should or should not win. Gravity was the best filmgoing experience I've had in at least five years, and I would like to see that win. The consensus favorite seems to be 12 Years a Slave, which was also incredibly good, though incredibly hard to watch. If Wolf of Wall Street wins anything, that's a turrible decision.
The only two movies I missed from the Best Picture nominees were Nebraska and Philomena. Anybody have any opinions on those?
Also, Frozen - while very good - seems to be wildly overrated.
