On this day in 1922, the Reds acquired righty Jack Scott from the Braves in exchange for Hall of Fame pitcher Rube Marquard and infielder Larry Kopf. This sounds like a bad trade for the Reds, but Marquard was nearing the end of his career and was never all that great in the first place. He was a good pitcher to be sure, though he really wasn't any better than someone like Bronson Arroyo. Marquard is in the Hall of Fame, because he made up some stories in The Glory of Their Times.
