After last night's 16 inning loss in which the Reds used 6 relievers, 3 of whom pitched at least 2 inning, Tony Cingrani will be asked to do something he hasn't done very often in his short MLB career; pitch deep into the ballgame. In 16 starts this season, Cingrani has averaged 5.2 innings per start. As great as the young lefty has been on the mound, pitch-efficiency has not been one of his strengths. Fresh off the DL with a talented and patient lineup in the Cardinals and a tired Reds bullpen, the man affectionately known as Cinnerman has a quite the challenge tonight. Oh... did I mention it's September 5th and one of the two divisional foes you are chasing is the opponent? No pressure young man.

For the Cards, Lance Lynn takes the bump. Lynn had one good start in six attempts during the month of August, with that one good performance coming against these Redlegs. In that game, Lynn allowed only 2 runs over 8 innings - the only start this season in which he lasted at least 8 innings. Since that time, however, Lynn has been smacked around by the Pirates (twice), the Brewers and the Braves.

The bullpen could use a night off. Also, the bullpen log is a lot more work after rosters have expanded and the previous game lasted 16 innings.
