What happened in the last series is done with. Time to focus, and that means sweeping this series. The Reds have been playing (and losing) against teams that they should beat, and this isn't any different, but if they want the division at this point, then they need this series. Period. 3.5 games back going into tonight.
Tonight marks the return of Johnny Cueto to the Reds rotation, and I honestly have no clue what to expect from him at this point. Reports were very good, but he's made 9 starts so far this year and hasn't pitched in a game since June. Color me a bit skeptical that we're seeing a shutout tonight. I think if Cueto goes 6 innings and 100 pitches that's a win for him.
The Reds will face Erik Bedard, who since Paul Daugherty wanted to trade Cueto and Votto for him in 2008, has gone 27-40 with a 4.03 ERA, and is averaging less than 17 starts per season in that span. Good talk.
Reds need to do work. Go Reds.
