Louisville beat Toledo 5-3, thanks in large part to sloppy defense by the Mudhens, who committed 4 errors in the game. Chad "Chum" Rogers, in his second start since being promoted from Pensacola, struck out 5 in 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1. Neftali Soto went 3-4 with a double, which was the only Bats XBH, and an RBI. Billy Hamilton went 1-5, and swiped his 50th base of the season, but was Jane's Addiction'd for the 11th time. Up Next: Armando Gallaraga and the Bats are currently playing the Mudhens in the final game of their series.
Pensacola had the day off. They play the Biscuits tonight, with Shaun "Dock" Ellis (3-1, 3.21 ERA) getting the start.
Bakersfield shelled the Modesto Nuts, winning 6-2. Cal League all-star and Futures Game participant, Carlos Contreras got the win for the Blaze, fanning 8 in 6 innings, waking 2 and allowing 2 runs. Steve "I'm" Selsky "and I know it" drove in 3 runs on a 2-4 night. Junior Arias set the table nicely for Bakersfield, scoring 3 runs on a 2-4 night with 2 doubles. Up Next: Shane Dyer (2-2, 2.45 ERA) takes on Lake Elisnore at 9 PM ET.
Dayton had the night off as well. They are facing the Cedar Rapids Kernels, as we speak, with Sal Romano (5-7, 4.60 ERA) in the driver's seat.
Billings completed the truncated organizational sweep, winning 6-4 in Grand Junction. Gabriel "Surfer" Rosa drove in 3 runs on a 2-4 night with a wanger, and my newest prospect crush Jose Ortiz drove in 2 on a 9th inning Ring Dang Do (R.I.P. Deli 720). Amir Garret gave up 3 unearned runs on 6 hits in 4 innings, striking out 3 and walking 1. Phillip Ervin had a rare 0-4 night with no walks. Up Next: Jose Guzman (2-1, 0.63 ERA) and the Mustangs continue their series in Grand Junction tonight.
The AZL Reds were idle yesterday as well. They square off against the Jr. Royals at 10 PM ET.
