- Louisville took the night off, despite a scheduled game against Charlotte. They lost, 4-1. Chad Reineke gave up all 4 runs in 5.1 innings, while the Bats bats eked out a meager 4 hits. Let's hope for some better results over the weekend... Up next: Armando Galarraga (2-1, 1.69) takes on the Knights at 7:15.
Pensacola kept it close for 9 whole innings, but unfortunately, Drew Hayes. The 25-year-old righty gave up 5 runs while recording just 2 outs in the top of the tenth, and the Lookouts held on to win, 8-2. Tim Crabbe struck out 7 in 4.2 inning after relieving Manny Parra, who threw 2 scoreless innings as part of a rehab outing. Ryan LaMarre chonked his fourth wanger of the year, and Tucker Barnhart was 2-4 with a triple, but was thrown out by flavor of the month Yasel Puig trying to tag up on a Brodie Greene flyout in the bottom of the ninth. This was the third-straight extra inning game between these two teams. Up next: Chad Rogers (2-2) takes the bump as Mobile comes to town for an 8pm start.
- Bakersfield got stomped, losing to Stockton 14-4. The Ports smacked 16 hits and drew 9 walks which, combined with 2 Blaze errors, makes the score no surprise. The pitching was mostly all bad, with Jake "Shitty Beach Rock" Johnson and Kyle McMyne bringin' the hardcore stank. Steve Selsky and Juan Duran both went yard, but this was a match to forget. Up next: Jon Moscot (0-6, 6.69) will probably suck against the Ports at 10:05. Man, our system is in rough shape.
- Dayton fell to West Michigan, 6-4, to complete the organizational turd sandwich. Jesse "Lone Bright Spot" Winker continued to provide some hope for us prospectors, going 2-4 with a 400+ foot 3-run moonshot. Have mercy. Pedro Diaz spotted the Whitecaps 6 runs before exiting after 2.1 innings, but Tony Amezcua tossed like a boss, going 4 2/3 scoreless in relief. Up next: The Dragons head to butthole-central (South Bend) for a 5-game set. Drew Cisco (2-3, 3.07) gets the start in game 1, tonight at 7:35. Notre Dame sucks.
