Farmers Only: Not Every Team From Louisville Won Last Night

Turn that upside down frown upside down...you lost - USA TODAY Sports

In other news, Billy Hamilton is fast and water is wet.

  • Louisville lost to Columbus 7-2 in an up-and-down first outing in AAA for Daniel Corcino. MiniCueto was perfect through 3 innings, but the Clippers opened up a can in the fourth, batting around and knocking Corcino out of the game. He didn't help himself much, throwing a wild pitch and committing an error in the inning of doom, but he ended up giving up 5 ER on 5 hits in 3.2 innings. He only walked 1 and struck out 5, which is a good thing considering last season's struggles. Not everyone can be Tony Cingrani, I guess. Jose Arredondo didn't do much to make Walt and Dusty look bad either, walking 3 guys and giving up 2 runs in his inning of work. The lone bright spot was Billy Hamilton, who went 4-5 and stole 3 bases, doubling his season total. He also drove in both Bats runs. He hasn't taken a walk yet this year, but he's batting a cool .500/.500/.750 so far, with no CS. Nobody else did much except for Ray "101. To. The." Chang, who went 2-4 with a double. Up next: Tony Cingrani looks to keep his give-up-no-hits-and-strike-out-everybody streak alive against Columbus at 6:35.
  • Pensacola squeaked past the Tennessee Smokies, sparking up a celebratory doobie after a 2-1 win. Daniel Renken "File" was Renkelicious, cruising through 7 innings giving up the lone run on 4 hits. Lurch and Lee Hyde Pierce closed it out, with the latter notching his first save of the season. Brodie Greene kept his hot streak alive, going 2-2 with a walk, and Moose Mattair doubled in Donald Lutz for the winning run. Wunderbar. Up next: Chad Rogers (1-0, 3.60) faces Mobile at 7:05.
  • Bakersfield learned the hard way that walks will haunt, falling to Visalia 4-0. Radhames Quezada issued 7 free passes in just two frames. Control wasn't the Rowdy Quesadilla's strong suit last season either (5.07 BB/9), but this was pretty absurd. The Blaze loaded the bases with nobody out in the second, but K, flyout, K ended the rally before it started. The Blaze struck out a combined 14 times, but the silver lining, if we're looking for one, was that the bullpen tossed 6 scoreless, 1-hit innings of relief. Up next: Lefty Tanner Robles (0-1, 12.00) looks to pitch the Blaze to their first win of the young season against Visalia at 10 eastern.
  • Dayton had a forgettable night as well, losing to the South Bend Silver Hawks, 6-nil. Beau Amaral had half the Dragons' hits, going 2-4, and Brent Peterson extended his torrid start to the year, going 1-3 with the only XBH, a double. He's 7-10 with a walk and a steal so far...they don't call him "All Day Brent Peterson" for nothing. Wandy Peralta "started" but pitched just 1 inning, giving up 5 runs (only 1 earned, though). Not sure what that was about, but I still can't wrap my head around the fact that there are multiple people that exist on earth named "Wandy." Up next: Robert Louis Stephenson makes his second start of the season against South Bend at 7:05.
