I'm sure you have all heard the rumors that Matt Kemp could potentially be traded. Obviously we can't afford him without help but when he's healthy he's a stud and I think I might have a proposal:).
Here's my proposal.
Rays send David Price to go along with Brandon Phillips and Alroldis Chapman from the Reds to the Dodgers.
Dodgers send Matt Kemp to go along with lots of cash (35%-40% of his salary relief) to the Reds.
Dodgers get another top 5 starting pitcher, a top 10 2nd baseman, and a top 5 closer.
Rays get a ton of quality prospects plus some big league help at positions of need who they can also use right away with Hannigan and Soto.
Reds get to unload BP's contract and basically replace it with a younger right handed power bat that we've been dying to have for years to put between Votto and Bruce, plus he can play CF.
I'll admit, I don't like making the Dodgers rotation that strong but I really do like the potential of this line up having sustainable success for MULTIPLE YEARS.
1. Hamilton - 2B (locked through 2019)
2. Votto - 1B (signed through 2023)
3. Kemp CF (signed through 2019)
4. Bruce RF (team control through 2017)
5. Ludwig LF (through 2015)
6. Frazier 3B (team control through 2017)
7. Cozart SS (team control through 2017)
8. Mesoraco - Catcher (team control through 2017)
So I'm I crazy? Is it too much? Not enough? As always thoughts are welcome.
PS - I think a "closer" is the most overrated position in baseball:)
