First things first, I didn't give a shit if Thom read the last post. I don't give a shit if he reads this one. I wrote the first mostly to troll on y'all, and well...the responses were kinda awesome. Loved 'em, all of 'em. But allow me a follow-up if you will -- I know I don't speak for all, I never claimed I did! I speak for myself when I write this, and you know what? I fucking like Thom. There I said it. Whachya gonna do about it RR?!? He has his tendencies sure, and have I criticized him? Tons of times! But overall, he's damn good at what he does and I'm proud to admit I believe that. I hated Grande (sorry George) and supported Thom's ascension to primary play-by-play man when Georgie decided to hang 'em up. Thom was the obvious next in then, and I've always wondered if George recognized that and stepped aside gracefully (and good for him if so). So when you say "Fire tHom!", I just laugh and ask myself, "If not Thom, then who?"
I suppose if Thom were not around it would be Jim Kelch as the next man in. But have any of you actually gone back and even watched the 90's game? Anyone? After not being able to tune in that day, I threw it on as a wind-down before bed, and guys...Jim Kelch is fucking dreadful. Jim Kelch is how I'd imagine Al Yellon sounding if he were calling games. Jim Kelch found exciting, killed it, pissed on it, killed it again, then boringly described the scene incorrectly to someone who wasn't there that more than likely wasn't even listening. Y'all are crazy if you think he'd be an improvement. I'd rather they brought back George Grande than made Kelch the #1 guy, and coming from me that's saying a lot.
We have an exceptional announcer with Welsh, and there are differences in opinions on the rest. That's OK!!!! If you want to hammer Thom, Jeff, Marty, or whomever, have right at it because that is and always will be your right on here. The announcer hate is some of the best stuff this blog offers, and no one is safe!
I'll leave it at that. Keep doin' what you do Thommy, the Reds will speak for themselves anyway.
