Night moves: Mesoraco was option to AAA Louisville. JJ Hoover was recalled. Mesoraco was hitting .120/.214/.160 over the last four weeks. Hoover has put up a 1.22 ERA, with 13.4 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 37 innings at Louisville. Based on my interpretation of the Roster Rules, Mesoraco can still be made eligible for the playoff roster.
We're back to the future. Although, with Hamels on the mound, it's hard not to dwell on the past. He's been the Roy Oswalt to this generation of Reds' teams. Hamels has absolutely smothered Reds' offenses over the last 6 years, holding them to a .164/.241/.294 line in his career, with a complete game shutout in the 2010 NLDS to boot.
Luckily, Johnny Cueto has been the Roy Halladay of this season. We know Cueto is the Debaser, but who will be the Ace of (Fewest) Bases?
