I admit that I am no numbers guy, purely love to watch the game unfold as it may, but has Stubbs recent good fortune at the plate been a sign of good things to come or just another streaky moment in the season? Since Joey Votto has been out it seems that Stubbs has adapted his approach at the plate, no longer do you see him hacking away at every first pitch no matter where it might be located. He has started to draw more walks and is making a lot more contact. If you have noticed like I have, he has been doing a very good job at not getting behind in the count and making pitchers really work to get him out, if they don't he has been making them pay. Even when he has been getting behind the count, he has not gone into panic mode like the Drew Stubbs we all know and detest.
I truly hope that this is the Stubbs we can all look forward to and I hope he feels the same. Baseball is a game of confidence and right now this team is chalk full of that man. Players are going down with injuries and their replacements are stepping up and taking control (with the exception of Miggy, makes me sad. Good guy for the clubhouse). So here is to hoping that the man has finally figured out the right approach and continues to give us a quality bat at the top of the order throughout the rest of the season, which I hope lasts all the way to the very last game played in the post season.
