  • Louisville had their winning streak snapped by the Buffalo Bisons, losing 9-4. Pedro Villarreal had his shortest outing as a Bat, giving up 6 runs in just 4 1/3 innings, walking 3 and striking out 5. Josh "Judge" Judy got subpoena'd for 3 runs in 1.2 innings of work, and he's been...not good recently. The gangly offseason pickup has given up runs in seven of his last ten appearances, and multiple runs in five of those seven. His ERA on the year is approaching 6. Someone give Charlie a hug and a scotch. Joey Gathright paced the O, going 3-4 from the top o' the mornin' order, driving in 2 and stealing a bag. Up next: Sean Gallagher (6-4, 5.11) looks to start a new win streak against Buffalo at 7:05.
  • All of a sudden, the Reds seem to have some legit pitching talent in the system. Pensacola was treated to what was arguably the most dominant pitching performance of the year by a Reds farmhand (save, perhaps, Daniel Corcino's 8 no-hit innings, but that's up for debate), as the Wahoos cruised to a 5-0 win over Jackson. The game featured an 8-inning, 3 hit, 15 K thing of beauty from Tony Cingrani, who upheld the individual mandate by striking out the side twice and facing the minimum through 7.2 innings before a harmless 2-out triple. His performance was the stuff of legends. A feat that ancient civilizations used to write epic poems about (hence the title of this post). The Hellflower continued to rake, going 2-4 with a double and 2 ribbits, and Ryan LaMarre went 2-4 with a not-harmless triple. Didi Gregorius was 0-2 with two walks, but he also made this play, so shut it. Up next: The Canuck Chucker, Kyle Lotzkar (4-2, 3.47) embodies the future against Jackson at 8.
  • Bakersfield eked out an 8-6 win over Visalia in a back-and-forth affair. Travis Mattair mooseknuckled Visalia pitching to a 4-5 night, and Billy Hamilton stole 2 more bases in a 1-5 night to bring him just 6 steals from 100 on the season. It isn't even July yet, people. Dominic "The Italian Christmas Donkey" D'Anna didn't jiggity-jig any hee-haws, but he did go 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI. T-Bowe also knocked in 2, but pitchers said "nein" to Donald Lutz, who went 0-4 fresh off a rehab stint in Arizona. The pitching wasn't anything special, though Kyle McMyne struck out the side for the save. Up next: Someone will take on Visalia at 7:05 Weez Time (thanks KMiB, I like it).
  • Dayton breathed fire all over Lake County to make it where bad folks go when they die, crushing the Captains 10-3, thanks to a 9 run third inning. Yovan Gonzalez thwacked a grand chorizo, Comrade Josef Terry sent a baseball to the gulag with no one on base, and Juan Silva went 2-3 with a double and a triple. James Allen picked up the win with 5 innings of scoreless relief after starter Carlos Gonzales reached his pitch limit after 3 (innings, not pitches), giving up a run on a hit and 2 walks. Yorman Rodriguez had an RBI double, but went just 1-4. Up next: It's off to the barren wilds of South Bend, as Dan Jensen (3-7, 5.51) toes the rubber.
  • Billings lost to Great Falls in a slugfest, 12-6. Drew Cisco got knocked around a bit, pitching to contact in his 3 innings of work. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits, but didn't walk or strike anyone out. Gabriel Rosa pulled a Yorman, going 0-5 with 2 Ks, but Jesse Winker kept on hitting, going 2-4 with a double. Good to see. Up next: Wes Mugarian (1-1, 3.00) gets the start against Great Falls at 7:05 KMiB time.
  • The AZL Reds were off. They'll face the AZL Brewers at 10:05 eastern. No starters announced.
