Ladies, If You'd Ever Wondered What It Felt Like to Get a Swift Kick to the Junk...Well, Now You Know. Indians Beat Reds, 3-2.

That stinks.

The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Honorary Star of the Game

Well, Mike Leake is apparently a slow starter (if you ignore his rookie season, of course), as he's rapidly turning what was a bad start into a quality turnaround. Leake went 7 innings tonight, allowing only 1 run in the process. If we can get the kind of mid-season recovery this season like we did from him last year, that'd be a big boost down the stretch.

Honorable mentions due to Zack Cozart (3 for 5 with a double), Joey Votto (duh), and Sean Marshall (2 IP, 0 R, 3K), and Carlos Santana, for his inability to corral any of the Indians' pitches tonight.

Key Plays

  • Not much to speak of this evening until the 10th. The Reds got their first and only regulation run in the 1st, as Cozart led off with a double, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on a Heisey infield single. The Indians would respond in the 4th, however, after Santana doubled and then scored on a Casey Kotchman single. Game tied, 1-1.
  • Extras were interesting, of course. The Reds struck in the top of the 10th, led by (who else) Willie Harris, Cozart, Heisey, and Hagadone. Wait, what? Harris doubled, was out at 3rd on a FC (as was Cozart), Heisey advanced to 2nd on another wild pitch, Votto had an infield single, and then Heisey scored on yet another another yet another yet yet another wild pitch to take a 2-1 lead.
  • Unfortunately, the Junaroldis. Shin-Soo Choo singled, and Assdribble Hawaii 5-0'd a Chapman cheeseball over Jay Bruce for a 3-2 victory. Awhh, shucks.
