It's Baseball Night in America every night for me, but tonight's it's official. What BNIA means, practically speaking, is that fans out of the Fox regional coverage area prevented from watching Reds baseball (without piracy).

Homer Bailey has had a rocky June so far, though by Game Score his last start was his fifth-best of the season (7K:2BB) of the 12 he's made to date. His fastball velocity was up; he was touching 95 again after dipping in the previous few outings. I like the stuff I've seen from Homer so far - he's mixing in 5 pitches, attacking hitters and generally approaching games with a level of maturity as a starter that I don't think we've seen from him yet. But I'm not really in a place speculate on maturity levels.

What's killing him is the long-ball. However: every single home run he's given up this season has either been at home or in Yankee Stadium. So, bad pitcher name or not, I'm feeling good about Homer in Queens.

Not sure if Heisey is available, but it's all irrelevant in the presence of Wilson Valdez. Before the end of the season, I would like to see Valdez pull off an "Around the World." I have him down for tonight's back-up catcher and mop-up reliever.

Valdez Mania.

Bullpen notes:

  • Logan Ondrusek needed a little rest - and to pass some innings to Sean Marshall - and it looks like that's what's happenin'.
