With the injuries and illnesses that the major league club is facing, it is possible that we may see a call-up from AAA today. The easy money is probably on Joey Gathright, especially if Heisey needs significant time off, but I do like the idea that KMiB floated of calling up Dioner Navarro to be a switch-hitting bench bat. Suck it Dioner has been hitting the ball well as of late, OPSing 1.120 over his last 10 games. There is also the horrifying scenario that Willie Harris returns to the Reds. Anyway, on to the game action.
- Louisville lost to the Rochester Red Wings in a 8-6 affair. This game marked the triumphant return of Paul Janish to the Bats lineup. He went 0-3 with a walk. Recently signed Ryan Feierabend it Like Beckham was much better in his second start for the Bats, going 4.1 innings with 2 K and 2 BB. Billy Billy Billy Bray made his 4th rehab appearance yesterday, striking out all three Rochester batters he faced. Up Next: Chad Reineke (2-4, 4.30 ERA) takes on the Red Wings at 7:05 pm.
- Pensacola saw their game against Mobile suspended in the 5th inning due to rain. The game will resume tomorrow at 6pm, as part of a double header, with the Bay Bears leading 3-1.
- Bakersfield came from behind to beat the Lake Elisnore Storm 4-2. Niko "Who's He?" Velasquez went 2-3 with an exploding plastic inevitable, a double and two RBIs. Billy Hamilton came into the day sitting on 74 steals, more than second and third place in the Cali League have combined. Snax was able to swipe number 75 while going 1-4 with an RBI. Brian Pearl got the save, striking out 4 in 1.2 IP. Up Next: Daniel Renken (3-2, 3,69 ERA) faces Lake Elisnore at 10:45 pm.
- Dayton lost 5-4 in walk off fashion to the Great Lakes Loons. The Dragons had the lead entering the 8th inning, but Ryan Kemp gave up the tying run in the 8th, and the winning run in the 9th. Kyle Waldrop whacked a donger, and that's about all that happened of note. The Dragons are still boring. Up Next: Radhames Quezada (4-6, 3.82 ERA) gets the start against the Lake County Captains at 7 pm.
