Joey Votto isn't your typical athlete, and I sometimes make obvious statements. However, it can be easy to gloss over some of the truly great statements Votto makes. I found the following quote, from John Fay's piece on Cincinnati.com to be ultimately lovable:
“I think looking at five years we’ve got a pretty good idea of who’s going to be here. Our catcher, our shortstop, our right fielder, our center fielder, our Opening Day starter, our second pitcher, our future ace in Aroldis Chapman, some of our bullpen, myself at first base. Chris Heisey could be our left fielder. I’m not sure about third and second base. But two positions? I’m worried about two positions over five years? That was a huge factor in the equation. If I was worried about losing situation, a team with no future, I would have said no.”
