The face of the franchise signs autographs for fans before the game.
March 16, 2012 (Goodyear, AZ) - This was a really fun game. It was Friday evening, everyone seemed to be in a happy mood...and there were some special guests.
The Reds warming up on the field before the game. Those Texans and their guns...
Barry Larkin was there to throw out the first pitch. Johnny Bench, Eric Davis, and Joe Morgan were also there for the occasion.
Johnny Cueto signed autographs for fans before the game...
...and so did ol' Landing Strip Lip, Bronson Arroyo.
On the mound for the Reds: Mat Latos.
Joey Votto running in to the dugout.
Pitching for the Rockies, Alex White.
The first thing he did was plunk the leadoff hitter, Drew Stubbs.
He was stranded when Janish popped out, Votto struck out, and Rolen grounded out.
The Reds scored all their runs in the 2nd. Bruce walked, and Ludwick singled.
Then young Henry Rodriguez singled...
Mesoraco signals "slide," but there was no throw.
Mesoraco struck out and Hanigan flied out. Then Drew Stubbs got revenge for the earlier plunking. He hit a three-run homer. Light Tower Power!
Paul Janish followed that with a single.
And Votto reached on an error.
Rolen walked, but Jay Bruce struck out to end the inning. 4-0 Reds.
The Rockies' catcher was one Ramon Hernandez.
I think Eric Davis is waving at me!
Eh, probably not.
Hanigan grounds out in the 4th. Jordan Pacheco with the put out.
Brett Tomko pitched the 5th, 6th, and 7th.
Dusty pulled his starters at the beginning of the 7th inning. Corky Miller and Donald Lutz warmed up by playing catch along the third base line.
Denis Phipps, in for Drew Stubbs, hit a double in the 7th.
Standup double!
Carlos Fisher pitched the 8th and 9th.
He was not exactly lights-out.
Willie Harris trying to field a Jordan Pacheco double in the 8th.
Daniel Corcino watches from the dugout rail.
Fisher escaped the 8th, but gave up 3 runs in the 9th. He almost gave up the game. With two on, former Red Wilkin Castillo singled, and Chad Tracy tried to score from 2B.
Lutz got the throw in to Corky, and Corky blocked the plate.
He's out! Game over.
Final score: Reds 4, Rockies 3.
