ESPN the Website has started a feature, ranking the 500 best players in MLB. The rankings are based on voting by 34 experts. Their disclaimer is that it's for this year only.
Today is Day 1, showing players #401-500. Unfortunately, the 2012 Reds are well represented, with a full third of the starting lineup in this group:
- C: Hanigan (415)/Mesoraco (500)
- SS: Cozart (444)
- LF: Heisey (413)/Ludwick (444)
Are they nuts or are we? I can't imagine the team being a serious contender with this many marginal players.
