Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
Reds have the chance to make their victory lap a Disappointment Parade for the Cardinals.
What new information could I possibly provide after 159 games - for a Bronson Arroyo start against the Cardinals?I tried to think of a wicked anagram, but couldn't come up with anything before dinner.
What's interesting about this series, other than the possible spoiling of the Cardinals' playoff hopes, is what clues it gives about the Reds' playoff roster and lineup.
John Fay guesses that tonight's lineup - minus Arroyo - is the Game 1 name-stack:
Brandon Phillips (R) 2B
Zack Cozart (R) SS
Joey Votto (L) 1B
Ryan Ludwick (R) LF
Jay Bruce (L) RF
Scott Rolen (R) 3B
Ryan Hanigan (R) C
Drew Stubbs (R) CF
Bronson Arroyo (R) P
It's beyond pointless to quibble about Cozart hitting 2nd at this point. And for as unimpressive as Rolen has looked over the last 2 weeks - month, Frazier has struggled more. I don't have any truck with mixing them in according to match-up and defensive need during the playoffs.
Probably the biggest point of contention is Drew Stubbs. He looks utterly lost at the plate. I don't know why he would make starts against righties in the playoffs.
