BTW this is not a Yossi FanShot so feel free to comment about your own parents and their love of the Reds or other teams for that matter.
Scott Roland should retire tomorrow.
Yep...
She also loved Tony Perez.
“He isn’t very attractive and I can’t barely understand him but he sure has ‘it’ " – a paraphrase of her comment made every time Perez was interviewed on TV.

reminds me of a story I heard growing up...
during the 75 World Series my mom called up NBC and yelled at them because the announcer ( Joe Garragiola ) was calling him Tony PEY-rez instead of Perez. Next thing she knows they connect her and she’s talking to him. Later on in the series, he mentions on the air how some woman was yelling at him about mis-pronouncing Perez’s name.

I'm kinda regretting the day my in-laws pass for more than one reason.
I already have a sick amount of Reds related memorabilia, as I’m sure most of you do as well. My fear is that soon my beloved in-laws will pass and I will inherit about 2 times the amount of framed Bench posters and Gomes bobbleheads than I already have displayed in my 8’ glass display case.
Who here has the most stuff? I have about 8 bobbleheads, 4-6 autographed balls; krusty baker included, a few pennants, and some game used dirt. Go ahead. Blow me out of the water, Pops.

When the time comes we can get together and have a street sale...
Red’s Memories Sidewalk Sale…in fact let’s get the who of RR in on this…what a way to help finance BK’s ST trip Arizona!!! (2013)

Scott Roland should retire tomorrow.
Only memorabilia I can remember around the house
was a baseball autographed by Pete Rose. Damn, I had forgotten about it until just now. I have to call my mom to ask her what happened to it, where it came from, etc…
We went to at least one Reds game/year for, I’d say, 5-7 years in a row until puberty. Last game we went to together was Aug. 30 2008. Both our first (and currently only) time at GABP. Sat in the infield box, just under the shade, first base side. I remember the Reds won, had a big inning, and the starting pitcher being pretty impressive. Also the pint of Jack and bag of peanuts we split.
/Miss you pops
/bout to go look up the stats of that 2008 game.

I grew up with a Cubbie Mom and a White Sox Dad
My childhood was filled with Ryne Sandberg, Frank Thomas and losing seasons, until the White Sox finally won the WS in 2005. My dad had to sleep on the couch for a week after that WS because my mom got sick of his taunting. He said the couch was totally worth rubbing it in about the Cubs.
I’m slowly working on turning them into Reds fans, though. I took them to their first Opening Day last year, and they were completely in awe of the parade, Joey Votto getting his MVP award, Monie hitting the walk-off to win the game, and then our jubilant tour of the Reds HOF. Dad now calls me to talk about the Reds, and both of them are already checking their calendar to try and drive out for more games this season.
You were blessed to have such a great sports mom, Mads, and I’m thankful that I have baseball fans for parents too.

Yep...and I was blessed not to have grown up in Iowa as well!!!
(Just kidding {sort of} Hawkeyegirl) Well maybe not…totally

[Sorry Mom…]

that's why my memory told me
but that’s fine, since I’m not a breast man
but you should ask BK, he’s the one in the market

you gotta ask him
my guess would be a 6’er of Newcastle, a Henry L/S Home Arsenal jersey, someone picking up his tab @ TTC for an evening, and then tickets and travel to Xavier’s conference tourney for Men’s Hoops

but he’ll watch Arsenal

It is hard to believe that no othe RRs don't have memories of Red's baseball tied up in one way or another with their parents or Grandparents.
Grandmother del Rio (Dad’s Mom) used to get so angry at the umpires that she would call Channel 2 in Dayton, Ohio and demand that they remove the ‘Damn Cheatin’ Umps".
Truthiness!

Yeah, I love reading these
I grew up in Forest Park/Greenhills and several times over the summer, me and one or two of my friends would take the Metro bus by ourselves from Tri-County mall down to Riverfront, watch the game, and then get back to the mall around midnight. We used the Straight-A tickets that they used to have and you also used to be able to get tickets really cheap through those big Entertainment coupon books or whatever they were called. I think I was in 6th grade when we started going to Riverfront by ourselves. Different times for sure because I can’t imagine letting my kids go to GABP by themselves at that age.
I don’t really have any Reds-related memories involving my parents other than that the games were always on the radio throughout the house. I remember falling asleep at night listening to Marty and Joe.
I don't know why my kids call me that. I think I'm a pretty nice mom.
I remember falling asleep at night to Waite Hoyt
pop
(sound of beer pouring)
gurgle,gurgle
(belch, behind hand)
“Robinson steps to the plate”
Gurgle, gurgle (crowd noise filters in)
Waite set down his glass
“Strike 1”
Pop
(sound of beer pouring)
Slurp slurp
“Robby is hit by the pitch”
Ambient crowd noises
Beer venders
“Post comes to the plate”
gurgle gurgle
ad infinitude…………

I believe Joe used to drink a beer or two during broadcasts as well
In between updates on his tomato plants. I miss Joe!

I went to the majority of my games at Riverfront with my grandparents.
I grew up in Dallas and Atlanta, but spent the majority of my summers here in Cincy, staying with my grandparents. I occasionally get nostalgic thinking about Riverfront and all the nights spent there. I remember my mom cried the day they tore it down.
Let a man come in and do the Popcorn.
Crum-Bum Beat
So open and so organic at GABP...
I cried the day the put up the fucking ’Boat"
Sigh…

Scott Roland should retire tomorrow.
Never heard my grandfather say it but my dad and uncles said this was one of their favorites:
“Ernie Lombardi is one big, slow piece of shit of the bases but my God he could hit the ball and God forbid any dumb sonofabitch who’s willing to to try and slide into home on him.”
Eighty-five percent of the f*ckin' world is working. The other fifteen percent come out here. A f*ckin' playground for the cocks*ckers.

Mom, I admit it...I miss your simple, straightforward approach to the Reds
she was a gem among women.
