I can understand letting a player ride out slumps, but we have been playing .500 ball all season long and even with our excellent run support, pitching still finds ways to give the game up. Is he waiting until after the All-Star break?
When are we going to see Heisey as an everyday player and let Gomes play strictly as a reserve? Heisey will surely catch on somewhere else in the near future if Dusty does not show more faith in him. I find him to be a viable replacement to Laynce Nix. There were even talks two weeks ago that the Padres were willing to trade Ryan Ludwick for Heisey.
The team always had too much faith in Janish to be a ShortStop that would eventually produce a lot of offense. Not many ShortStops these days will give you a ton of offense. (Jeter, Hanley, Reyes, Pedroia, Troy T). And Renteria is just a one year replacement to the Orlando Cabrera vacancy. (Phillips has played with 20 shortstops since joining the Reds).
And finally, when are we going to see Dontrelle at Great American? He is still only 29 and seems to be finding his mojo again. Volquez is no longer the All-Star that he once was and I think of Josh Hamilton every time I see his face. Bronson has not surprised anyone and it's good to see Cueto growing into an Ace.
