She also plays the old version of Marty's mom
The parents were played by the same actors in 1955 and 1985. Just a lot of makeup for the “old mom”.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you...
I just heard you say it the last three times.
I can usually tell when a pitcher needs to go out based on how they’re pitching. If I’m not watching it on TV, unless the gameday starts looking like a 4th of July firework, I don’t know if the guy needs to go out or not.

Is it a philosophy on this team
to not go right after the hitter and throw a lot of strikes? It seems many of our pitchers throw a lot of balls.
The season doesn't start until the Cincinnati Reds take the field! Reclaim The Opener!!
Partly, I think the other teams might do the same thing.
The difference is the Reds are a much more aggressive hitting team than some others are.
The baby under the basket is a very powerful talisman, only to be used in times of great distress.
Well, the Reds hitters have drawn more walks than any other team in the NL

That means they aren't bad hitters.
But more likely to go after the first pitch than some other offenses, so they put the ball in play before the count gets deeper.

They are 4th in the league in pitches per plate appearance

Ah, once again, you are discussing Reds hitters.
The question was about the Reds pitchers.
I just said other pitchers probably do the same thing that Reds pitchers do except Reds hitters are more aggressive. Try not to outthink this again, as you did with Cap Anson.

he pitched well prior to the Philly game
and he kind of lost it when he was exhausted.
I don't argue I correct.
That was three weeks ago!
The baby under the basket is a very powerful talisman, only to be used in times of great distress.
and he hasn't had a chance to pitch sense
he pitched a lot in a short period of time. Lets see what he can do rested.
It isn’t my fault you can’t comprehend things well.
I don't argue I correct.
he doesn't pitch BECAUSE HE SUCKS.
He sucked against the Dodgers and the team isn’t going to let that happen again. What exactly did you earn for deciding to defend Carlos Fisher.
Nobody else in the Civilized World agrees with you on this guy.
The baby under the basket is a very powerful talisman, only to be used in times of great distress.
he has decent stuff, just needs better command
command won’t improve sitting in the bullpen.
WOod pitched terribly against the Dodgers and started today. Some folks just don’t get it.
I don't argue I correct.
Never mind to you too.

Anyway, you and Carlos' mother want him to pitch.
So arguing in support of this turkey would be uniquely Justin.

aren't you just full of piss and vinegar today
Are disagreements always such an affront to you?
Yes, those are lovely cocoanuts.
He should really learn to argue like
Bart: "Dad, what's a Muppet?"
Homer: "Well, it's not quite a mop, not quite a puppet, but man... (laughs, then pauses) So, to answer you question, I don't know."
Folks who contrive disagreements just because they can ...
… I concern myself with that because I find that I have to debate something for no good reason. Eventually, I wonder about the nature of the beast. Why on EARTH does anybody decide to defend Carlos Fisher? And by doing so, pawning off the most useless reasons for it?
Here’s what I read:
he has decent stuff, just needs better command
command won’t improve sitting in the bullpen.
Fisher does NOT have decent stuff and everyone knows it. To support any premise that he does is complete bullshit.
He is in the bullpen because he can’t get anybody out, not because he had one game THREE WEEKS AGO in Philadelphia that tired him.
Fuck this sort of argument. This is what pisses me off. I don’t dislike the people, just the deliberate attempt to find opposing points of view just because they think they can make people look bad. This one doesn’t work.

Fisher's stuff isn't that bad
in 2009 he struck out 8.25/9IP, in 2010 he struck out 8.46/9IP. The problem is in those respective years he walked 5.33/9 and 5.24.
Striking out a batter per inning is a sign of “good stuff”. Futher in 2009 his average fastball was 93 and in 2010 it was 92.5, so he can hit 94 to 95. Is his stuff great? No, but it is plenty fine to get big leaguers out if he can find his command.
Up to and including the long game in Philly, Fisher had an ERA of .87, over 10.1 IP, with 8 Ks, and 4 BB, and 2 of those walks occurred in the final inning of the Philly game.
Since that game he has thrown 3.2 innings in 4 games, with an ERA of 13.24, 5 walks, and 0 strike outs. It appears that the long game had a negative effect on him.
I don't argue I correct.
by Yossarian22 on Jun 15, 2011 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions
I think Horst'll go down when Bailey comes up
and then Wood takes his spot in the bullpen. That makes sense to m.e
"You said 'walks' twice."
"I like walks."
Horst or Fisher
Though I might prefer to try Willis out of the bullpen and keep Wood stretched out at AAA when LeCure is back.

it will be fun playing the Yankees
but I’m definitely apprehensive about it. They will not be easy to beat. I’m hoping they have no idea to field bunts.
We get really lucky with the pitching matchups
We miss Sabathia and Burnett. Colon, who has been great, is on the DL. That leaves Nova (rookie), Freddy Garcia, and ??

Rolen should have plenty of power left to get doubles to the gap.
He’s also smart enough to know that he probably has only warning-track power left consistently. The way he’s been hitting is line drives to right center. This is a smart hitter.

There was a nice piece
about Dusty and Darren at reds.com. I found this passage interesting:
An aspiring ballplayer himself, he roams among the much larger Reds players and is treated like one of the guys. On Monday in the visitor’s clubhouse at Dodger Stadium, Joey Votto playfully picked up Darren and body-slammed him to a sofa. Later, Darren played video games with Chris Heisey.
Body slamming and video games sounds like fun until somebody gets hurt. Votto could have landed on the DL ;) It actually sounds like Darren has a pretty good time with the Reds and that’s nice to hear.
I remember when Votto hit a huge go ahead home run earlier this season
The first person that Votto went to was Darren to give him a big bear hug.
