Jim Bowden thinks the Reds could be in the running for Jose Reyes

Everybody loves Paulie J, but wouldn't it be nice to have a leadoff hitter?

Former Reds GM and noted lovable megalomaniac "Trader" Jim Bowden has listed the Reds as one of five possible trade destinations for Jose Reyes.

Also, some other guy thinks it's a possibility.

It's a wonderful dream, and the Reds certainly have the trade chips to get a deal done, but there's one important factor in the way: Reyes is in the last year of his contract and is about to get paid. Big time. He is playing well so far this year, and seems to have recovered from the injuries that have kept him on the DL for much of the last two years. This is a guy who was the best leadoff hitter in the game from 2005 to 2008, hitting .288 and averaging 65 steals, while playing solid defense at a premium position. He's going to make at least $15 million starting next year, and it is doubtful the Reds will be willing to pay that.

Just imagine, though, what a great leadoff hitter could add to what is already one of the NL's top offenses.
