I think it's actually pretty popular in Mexico and Central and South America.
"People don't kill people. Burning oreo packages kill people."
I heard that cinco de mayo is actually a lot more popular in America than Mexico.
People in Mexico hardly celebrate it.
It's my understanding from my sister, who lived in Mexico for awhile
That there is a small segment of a certain part of Mexico City that celebrates Cinco de Mayo. That’s about it, but the resorts along the ocean usually put on a good show for the tourists.

Hmmm...
Cinco de Mayo is a commemoration of the Mexican army’s miraculous defeat of the Napoleon the 3rd led French invasion of Mexico in the early 1860’s. As mentioned here, it is not really celebrated in Mexico, but it is a big for margarita sales on college campuses all over the States.
Now, I can’t wait to see Aroldis’ commercial for pepto commemorating the Bay of Pig’s invasion.
Tanzen!

I know many Americans who do simply because they want an excuse to drink
I wasn’t sure if the same happened in Cuba.

People here use it as an excuse to get drunk, does that count?

Oh, this is interesting
Wikipedia:
Celebration in the United States of Mexican-American culture and experiences. Only somewhat celebrated in Mexico.
Many teachers in this country ...
… in their yearning to be really with the scene on diversity, teach little kids about it, because it’s like … wow, Hispanic and all. So they say it’s Mexican Independence day or something … it counts as diversity study without really having to learn where Mexico actually IS.
Little kids don’t know any difference, so … vamos la playa or something.

Favorite headline of the year
What’s great is that the first sentence of the story simply confirms that you read the headline correctly.

omg
That’s awful. It was a child’s pet, and he killed it.
And he was apparently still wearing the women’s underwear in his booking photo.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
I really doubt that bath salts are the only thing he was high on
"People don't kill people. Burning oreo packages kill people."
"bath salts" are designer drugs
They are synthetic and therefore not technically illegal. They’re sold as “bath salts” at head shops, but everyone knows they aren’t really bath salts. It’s a game of whack a mole, as they make them illegal and they come out with new formulations that haven’t been banned yet.
But judging from his skin problems, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was into meth as well.

I would've guessed Ohio w/ Florida a close second
Bart: "Dad, what's a Muppet?"
Homer: "Well, it's not quite a mop, not quite a puppet, but man... (laughs, then pauses) So, to answer you question, I don't know."

I'm pretty sure they call it "Australia"
"People don't kill people. Burning oreo packages kill people."
I watched that show once
I had no idea what was going on the entire episode, I felt like I’d just done drugs without the doing drugs part
Now that you mention it and I watch it again... yep.

He speaks a more Spanish dialect, heard in S. America more than Mexico
The “S” at the end of the word is blunted … as in Arol-dee-th. Probably learned it in Andorra.

I'm wondering why on earth they have a "don't try this at home" disclaimer
NO ONE CAN DO THAT AT HOME EXCEPT HIM!

Also, anyone seen the Votto Sports Center commercial?
There were rumors of one being made this off-season, but I haven’t seen one yet.
I just realized Cueto is lining up to pitch in the Cardinals series
At home, though.

Is anyone watching the Cards-Fish game?
Carpenter keeps screaming at HanRam about something. He’s screamed at him twice now after the inning is over. What’s he going to tell his son? He’s trying to get a brawl started.
Kinda watching, but missed that
He’s just a fucktard, is all. Still winless and getting shelled – his head should explode any second now.

Hanley threw his bat down after he popped up.
Carp was ragging on him and it looked like Hanley was confused by it all. Carp just kept it up.
The next time, Hanley carried his bat with him to first base on the comebacker. I wonder why.
What would Hanley tell his son about that?

he's tanking the first half of the season so the Reds don't have to trade the whole farm for him.

Although he's giving up some shots tonight.
"People don't kill people. Burning oreo packages kill people."
I saw this up the thread
About Hanley: With the way he is performing right now, lets just say this continues and he bats around .200 by the deadline. Would we make a deal for him?
LTP is for Stubbs only!
my guess is no
The Fish want to keep Hanley; they’ve made it clear that they want him to be the face of the franchise when they open their new stadium. They signed him to a 6-year, $70 million extension – probably too rich for Walt’s blood. They even signed his cousin for over $4 million, because he says he’s always dreamed of playing on the same team as his cousin, and they feared he would leave if they didn’t make it so.
He probably won’t still be batting .200 at the deadline. If he is, there’s a serious problem, and we should stay away.
His OPS last year was 100 points lower than in the previous three years. He was still a good hitter, especially for a SS, and it’s only one year, but combined with his struggles this year, it’s concerning, considering his injury history. If he’s really 27, his power should be peaking now, but it’s falling.
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
All I hear about Hanley is that he's just in a slump.
It’s more about frustration now. When he starts to hit again, all will be forgiven in Fishville.
He may have a wrist injury but if he does and isn’t saying, that’s not smart.

Today's lineup. Not terrible for a getaway day and a team with no real 3B
Heisey CF
Renteria SS
Votto 1B
Phillips 2B
Bruce RF
Gomes LF
Hanigan C
Janish 3B
Bailey P
Billy Hamilton: Snax
Devin Mesoraco: Snacks
Renteria pwns Brett Myers
20-for-43, .465, 2 HR according to Jamie Ramsey.
I’m surprised Cairo’s not in the lineup. 5-for-18, .278
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?

no word on the pink glove?
I’d love for him to wear that in a big league game. Be like Cam’Ron and get the pink to pop.
