For everyone who thinks that crashing the catcher adds little to the game, this play is amazing.

What if we don't think it adds little to the game?

That's what i now find funny about this play.
I did not remember that it put the Reds up 6 runs. Totally necessary!

I thought the same thing
My memory made it seem more meaningful.
Now, in retrospect, it seemed foolish. Glad he wasn’t hurt for it.

Charlton got hurt on that play too, right?
Where’s Slyde when I need him? I’d be freaking furious with Charlton if I was Lou Pinella.

Not exactly the brightest play in baseball history

well, even after this there's no way Piniella was more mad at Charlton than he was at Dibble.

Charlton did not get hurt on the play
Neither did Scioscia, although he took the brunt of the punishment.

Yeah, I did!
What’s what I was trying to remember.
p.117-118, he did get a sore shoulder from the incident, and had an ice back on it the next day, but didn’t miss any time. I was remembering a small time off, but was mistaken.
Dumb. Maybe it’s badass, but I’d be happy to not have plays like that in baseball anymore.

As I recall, a lot of Reds fans had begun to believe at that point
I know I was in that group.

Even at ten years old, I knew it was badass.
