Need ticket/seating advice
I'm going to be in Cincinnati for the game against the Braves on Sunday, July 24, and I want to go ahead and purchase tickets. I've never been to GABP, and was wondering if there are any seats which are in the shade. Shaded for the entire game would be great, but info on any areas that are in the shade at least part of the game would be much appreciated.
How are the "View Level Box Seats"?
I looked over the posts with information for visitors, but didn't see anything specific about certain sections / shade / etc. Any info about what you think are "good" seats will be very helpful -- also info about where you buy your tickets.
I'm really looking forward to my visit; your park looks beautiful on TV!

I come in peace
The first base line is the shaded area. Do not sit in the LF upper deck bleachers, you’ll get fried, sun is right in your face, and you can’t see the scoreboard. My favorite seats are in the Moon Deck (RF outfield).
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, is just a freight train coming your way...

btcoop is right, with one addition
Get a high row, that will put you under the overhangng upper section so as to provide shade.

Isn't there a part of the lower level that's shaded, too?
If you’re far enough back from the field? It’s been a while since I’ve been there, though, so I could be wrong.

Whoops, I was kind of vague there
That’s what I was talking about. Sections 127-133 in the lower bowl will do nicely for shade. The view level box seats are very nice for the price but will offer no shade during a day game.
Check out the seating chart here if you’d like, sddbaker.

Oh, I see.
Well, the same is true for the upper deck (which is what I thought you were referring to!) The higher your seats, the more likely you’re in shade. I think I figured out once that row K is the cut-off, but I may be remembering that wrong.

nah
The lower bowl is the way to go…especially the 3b side, with its wide concourse and abundant toilets and food/beer booths.

View Level Box seats are great, but they are directly in the sun
The only seats that are guaranteed shady are the ones that jch and btcoop are talking about-first base side infield box seats, but make sure you get the higher rows-MM or higher.
Your other option if you are willing to spend more is the Fox Sports Champions Club seats. These are pricey-$85/each, I think-but it includes all of your food and you can sit inside at tables in the air conditioning (huge windows face out over the park) or you can sit outside in your seat and be completely in the shade under the overhang.
I’m allergic to the sun (seriously, I turn purple and break out into hives) so trust me, I’m quite the expert on shaded seats!

I too am allergic to the sun
But when overexposed I turn tan and break out into sexy.

I'm so glad I don't see a pic here

I tried to get seats in those sections...
but unfortunately could only get 3 together, and I need 5. Is there a number I can call to speak directly to someone with the Reds, so I can request specific seats, instead of using the automated “best available” system on the website?

I've had luck with Stubhub this year
Just looked up that game and there are 8 tickets available in the 2nd row of section 518 (just off the 3rd base side of home plate) for less than face value. I enjoy the view from behind home plate up high better than the view from the outfield, and the sun would be behind you, if not shaded for the majority of the game.
