Farmers Only: Louisville takes a tip from the big club to produce an impressive comeback of their own

  • Louisville won a thriller over their arch-rivals in Durham 11-8 in 10 innings.  It was a one-run game until Jerry Gil gave up 4 runs in the 7th, but the Bats answered with 2 runs in the 8th thanks to a Daniel Dorn 2-run shot (his 4th of the year), and 3 runs in the 9th to force extras.  Brent Clevlen homered in the 10th as the Bats tacked on 3 runs to preserve the win.  As for the rest of the performances, Tom Cochran got the start and gave up 4 runs in 2 innings, but Jeremy Horst was stellar in relief, pitching 4 shutout innings.  The Bats totalled 19 hits in this one, with Devin Mesoraco leading the way with a 5-for-6 night.  Also worth nothing, Juan Francisco and Yonder Alonso had three hits each, with Alonso hitting his 5th homer of the year.  Up next: Mike Leake makes his first minor league start today at 12:05 against Durham.  The game will be shown on MLB Network, so watch it!
  • Carolina got shut out by Mobile 5-0.  James Avery gave up all 5 runs (only 1 earned) in 5 innings pitched. and Justin Lehr and Justin Freeman had solid relief performances.  Keeping with the theme, the offense only mustered up 5 hits.  Up next: Dallas Buck takes the hill as the Mudcats take on Mobile at 12:35 today.
  • Bakersfield beat Stockton 4-3.  Remember J.C. Sulbaran?  He gave up 3 runs in 5 innings and struck out 13.  Alex Buchholz, Carlos Mendez, and Chris Richburg all had two hits each, and Stephen Hunt went 0-for-4 to snap his hitting streak at 20.  He's still hitting .427.  Up next: Da Blaze take on Stockton in a rare day game for them, a 3 PM start.  Lance Janke will take the mound.
  • Dayton was rained out.  They'll play a doubleheader tonight against Great Lakes at 6, with Daniel Tuttle and Daniel Corcino starting the games.
