So look at the situational stats for these guys with RISP and RISP with 2 outs…...With Rolen being out, why would we choose Gomes 4th and Bruce 5th?
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/8245/situational;_ylt=Anbrk3kCLlklNrdC3laum4iFCLcF Janish.....I wouldn’t really suggest batting him around clean-up, but compare his numbers to Gomes and Bruce. Also, he is usually batting 8th which means they are giving him NOTHING good to hit
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7245/situational;_ylt=Anbrk3kCLlklNrdC3laum4iFCLcF Gomes....I know he walks a lot, but Bruce will pop/ground/strike out afterwards. Gomes is 1 for 12 with RISP and 2 outs!!
Why not give these first 4 each a shot or two at the 4 and 5 positions. Cairo can’t play every day and either can Renteria, so Janish can fill in 3rd or shortstop for either of them when they need days off. Whichever old guy is in, they should bat 5th. He is my ideal lineup:
Votto 3 (If Heisey is in….have him bat 3rd and move everyone up a spot. Since when did the best batter HAVE to bat 3rd?!?!
Gomes 7 (I don’t care if he walks because the next guy will hit him in)
Cairo (or Renteria) 5
Bruce 9 (OR move Bruce to 7th…..I don’t care)
Hannigan (or Hernandez) 2
Overall, I think it's time to switch up the middle of the order a little bit and see what happens. I also wouldn't mind seeing Renteria get some more playing time. Let me know what you think!
