Farmers Only: Chapman's not the only one looking for triple-digits

  • Louisville lost 10-4 in Indy.  Dave Sappelt homered for the Bats (his 3rd of the season), and Yonder Alonso and Corky Miller had two hits each.  Scott Carroll had a very good start as well, giving up 3 unearned runs in 7 innings of work.  Matt Klinker had other ideas, and gave up 7 runs in his relief appearance.  Up next: Chad Reineke takes on Columbus at 6:35.
  • Carolina beat Tennessee 5-4 in 10 innings off of a walk-off homer by Jake Kahaulelio.  The pitching was solid overall, with a start that saw Daryl Thompson get pulled by yet another injury after taking a liner off his hand.  The bullpen stepped in and pitched great, with Lee Tabor, Justin Freeman, and Nick Christiani combining for 4 1/3 innings of hitless ball.  Mike Costanzo also hit his 3rd homer of the year for the Mudcats.  Up next: Carolina takes on Tennessee again at 7:15, with no starter listed as of yet.
  • Bakersfield stomped Modesto 14-1.  The pitching was solid in this one, with Pedro Villarreal going 7 innings and giving up 1 run on 10 hits.  All 9 hitters in the lineup today at least had one hit for the Blaze, with Eric Campbell leading the way with a 3-for-5 night.  Yasmani Grandal, Henry Rodriguez, and Carlos Mendez all homered.  Up next: Curtis Partch takes on the Nuts at 10:15 tonight.
  • Dayton beat Bowling Green 8-2 on a stellar outing by Daniel Corcino.  He gave up 2 runs in 6 innings and struck out a season-high 9 hitters.  On offense, David Vidal led the way with a 3-for-4 evening, and Juan Duran hit his first homer of the season.  The big story here was Billy Hamilton, who stole 3 more bases to bring his season total to 14.  In 12 games.  Yeah.  Could he steal 100 bases this year?  Up next: Bowling Green at 7 tonight, starter TBA.
