As the 2011 MLB season approaches, many Reds fans are excited to see how the 100 mph throwing Cuban Missile will preform. Yet, Aroldis Chapman needs to spend the 2011 season in the bullpen. Many people want to see Chapman in the rotation, but that may not be the best thing for the hard throwing lefty. He accumulated a total of 13.1 innings pitched last season, with a 2.03 ERA. He was called up in late June last season, only allowing his to face a select few MLB batters, with a complete season in the bullpen, Chapman would be able to strengthen his talents against the MLB's best. Also he is the perfect set up man for Coco Cordero. Masset, Bray, Ondrusek, and have been spotty at best, with 3.40 ERA, 4.13 ERA, and 3.61 ERA respectively. Chapman at this point in time at least, fits the set-up man role perfectly at this time. Another point to look at, we could have another Mike Leake or Steven Strasburg situation abrewing. Chapman has not thrown the innings or number of pitches, that would let on think that he is capable of pitching an entire season as a starter. So for now the Reds game plan should be to keep the "Cuban Missile" ready to launch in the bullpen.
