i think my choice should win

Northern California (say, Sonoma) for retirement, for the great outdoors and proximity to a pretty awesome city. Two big league teams to boot.

1. Must be near, or on, a beach
2. Must have at least minor league baseball nearby
3. No snow, dammit
4. A good local culinary scene is a major plus
5. I prefer a minor/major metro area, no boonies for me

At this point in time i’m leaning towards Charleston, SC. I suppose an argument can be made for SW Florida also, i much prefer the Gulf to the Atlantic. I have an odd gut feeling on Gulfport, MS…for no other reason that we flew directly over it on the way to our wedding locale. It looked kinda cool from 30000 feet.

I won’t tell you who I voted for, but I will say that I didn’t vote for myself. I’m dumb, but not that dumb.

Oh and anyone can see who anyone else voted for, it’s not a mod thing.

Because aside from yeomanly fulfilling all of the usual blog-moderating requirements and expectations, I need a mod who can occasionally play video games with my kids without, you know, actually coming in my house.

But come to think of it, Chuck hasn’t done that since 2010 so if any of you other schlubs can figure a way to work that kind of magic in the next three days.. I’ll totally change my vote.

I got really excited for a second and thought someone had made me a mod, but alas.

but he is more of a “beat reporter” than a mod. But I always enjoy his articles and he is one of RR’s biggest assets, especially since Slyde got bumped up to the broadcast booth.

Retirement…

Out west I’d go for Sonoma County, California. Sister to Napa Valley, not far from great beaches, great skiing and great pot.

East…maybe Charleston or Asheville. Probably Charleston if Yossi is going to Asheville.

But since I can’t, tl;dr is the straw that stirs the drink.

I’m not sure what “within moderation” means? Does that mean that Provincetown is out for being too fabulous?
My heart is currently in Seattle.

I have a gut feeling LaMarre is going to make the Chris Heisey Memorial Leap this next season.

It’s a tight race between Jackson, WY and Lahaina, Maui.

I’m still pretty happy with our farm system. All the prospects that were traded were redundant to some degree. Hell, if we really want Jurrjens, I think we could do it.

are quick and efficent ways to say you agree with what somebody else said, and could either take the time to write the same thing they wrote but in different words, or just write “this, +1, agree’d, etc”. They are all different viriants of the samething.

Also +1 or this etc isn’t a rec, which is for a different type of comment.

My dream is live in an RV in retirement, so I can travel all over. I would definitely spend March in either Arizona or Florida, but I wouldn’t want to live either place year-round.

Expanding a little beyond the US…I really love Nova Scotia. It’s like Maine, before it got all commercial. But I’m not sure I’d want to be there in the winter time when I’m old and gray.

Don’t I have to get into the workforce before I think about that?

as for the “+1” or THIS, I vote we start using FVA’s “werk” suggestion. It just makes too much sense.

Also, for my retirement…aw, who are we kidding, I’m already retired. Suck it, bitches!!!!

The best places to retire are all on the West Coast.

1) San Diego. Perfect weather, plenty to do, beautiful scenery.
2) Central Coast. Someplace like San Luis Obispo. Small town, lots of hills for mountain biking, lots of ocean for ocean stuff. Year around temp variations are probably 57-68F. Sunny all the time.
3) If you must go inland, Boulder. Denver is stupid; you are next to some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, and you build a town in the part that looks like Kansas?
