SIS: The 29 Trades of Joey Votto
So with all the early Votto trade talk focused on teams that actually match up well with the Reds for a trade, I got to thinking about how trades with the other teams might look.
So here's your mission: list who it would take to give up Votto to any or all of the 29 teams in the MLB. Does it take 12 players to send Votto to Houston? Do the Cubs build a package around Castro? Straight up for McCutchen?
The rules: none. Also, the prizes: none.
Give it your best shot. And what better way to drive home the fact that WE ARE NOT TRADING JOEY VOTTO?

Votto and a Cincy blogger to be named later (does 'creds have any value)
for the ghosts of Ted Williams and Cy Young plus a 15 minutes with your mom. Done.
Individuality: Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else.
Dude, you have no idea.
Me alone should bring back Ted William’s frozen head, Curt Schilling’s bloody sock, and an hour with ’nukkah’s mom.
It feels so nice to be back to normal
I'm just honored I'm not
the throw-in guy listed in this deal. Sorry Slyde.

The Yanks don't really have a place for him now
But years hence, when Joey reaches his DH days, the Yanks would probably give a first round draft pick for him. They love lefties.
I know you can’t trade draft picks, but I’m expecting that in the future, you will be able to!
All Things Bubba: Because how can you not love a baseball player named Bubba?
I thought they might change the CBA this time around to allow the trading of draft picks, but I haven't heard it mentioned lately
I think it’s dumb they don’t allow it.

Votto to St. Louis for Garcia, Wainright, and Molina
We’ll put the pitchers into our rotation, and then publicly draw and quarter Molina on Pete Rose Way.

Votto for Hernandez, Pineda, and Mike Carp.
"Red Reporter - An elitist clique full of like-minded douchebags." - BK
If only we could swing a 3 team deal and have the Angels throw in Mike Trout.
and then hire Tim Salmon as the hitting coach.
Let a man come in and do the Popcorn.
Crum-Bum Beat
And those two, instead of wearing Reds hats, can wear hats from the Hiroshima Carp

Votto for Kershaw, Jerry Sands, Dee Gordon, Javy Guerra
and we’d have to throw some other stuff their way too, but those would be 3 other guys I’d want aside from Kershaw
The ends justify the means
Votto for Hamilton, Holland, Feliz, and Ron Washington
Because trades involving Hamilton must involve players starting with V.
As long as we throw in Baker, I am all for it.

Votto Hamilton and Chapman
Price Jennings and Moore
Jack McKeon on 2000 Reds "We have more MRI's than RBI's on this club."
You win the award for trade LEAST likely to happen
And that includes the trade of me for Ted William’s frozen head.

Votto to Milwaukee
For Greinke, Marcum and Hart
A little bit of an overpay by the Brewers, but surplus values match up pretty well.
Votto is at $25 million, figure a big premium is paid over value for a player of his stature, at least $37.5 would be paid.
Greinke is at $12 mil, same applies as above with premium, Marcum at $8 mil and Hart at around $10.
Although I agree that it will never happen
For what reason would a trade like that not work more 1) Brewers giving up 3 star players for 1, or 2) the Reds picking up $18 million in salary for the sake of 11 more wins?
Short term huge for the Reds, and the Brewers could definitely make it work with $18 million extra payroll to work with in that they could possibly bring in Edwin Jackson, Jose Reyes or Aramis Ramirez to replace the production lost by the 3 players given up. Also opens up the window for them more than one season.
The problem with this
is that it is WAY easier to replace production at 1B than in the rotation. There are always reasonably good 1B/OF/DH types floating around who can fill in at 1B for a while.
But you are asking the Brewers to give up 2 top pitchers to essentially keep their production at 1B (Prince and Votto are fairly similar). Even assuming Hart is easily replaceable, there is no way they can replace all 3 players’ production for 18 mil. They probably couldn’t even replace the 2 pitchers’ production for that amount. So this trade would make them much worse.

Votto to ATL for Edward Salcedo, Kris Medlen, and Sean Gilmatin
if we’d rather win later than right now anyway.

They have Freeman, they don't want Votto

Freeman isn't any kind of amazing player
he’s fine and all, but also easily tradable in his own right. I bet the Braves would happily take Votto if the price were to their liking.

I'd love Randall Delgado and Julio Teheran.
Though mostly Julio Teheran.
