Chapman scheduled to make 3 appearances in Arizona Fall League
Mark Sheldon brings us the news that Chapman's Return to Starting Pitching tour will make a stop through Arizona. The nickname "Buena Wrista Crucial Sub " will no longer be usable (if it ever was) in a matter of days as Chapman has been tapped to pitch Oct. 24, 27 and 31 in the AFL, as a prelude to Puerto Rican winter league action. No word on what team, but my guess would be the Phoenix Desert Dogs.

I'm guessing
2, 3, 4 innings with pitch count caps of 30, 45, 60. Then they cap him at something like 6/90 in P.R. Sound about right?
You're never as bad as you look when you lose. You're never as good as you look when you win.
i hope its a tight cap
since they are pitching him on 2 and 3 days rest.

I'm curious how deep AFL starters even go in games
The point is to get a lot of gametime reps, not to load up on innings. There’s always simulated innings after he’s subbed out; I’d be surprised if he goes more than 3IP/50p in game situations.

I don't think starters in the AFL usually go longer than 3 innings.
They have already pitched a pretty good amount of innings during the season, and they have a lot of pitchers they want to get in to the games. The AFL is more to showcase a player’s talent against more advanced competition.
What I find surprising is that the AFL is for prospects. Chapman isn’t considered a prospect anymore. Maybe they decided since he was working as a starter that they’d let him pitch there.

hopefully he can be like Ogando this year

That's probably the best case senario, results wise
He’ll strike out a lot more than 6.7/9, but there’s no way he has a walk rate as low as Ogando did
