RR Community Prospect Rankings: Ronald Torreyes beats LeCure for 19th on the list

Little known fact: Ronald Torreyes is the only baseball player in professional baseball with the ability to literally fly. We think. via 1.bp.blogspot.com

Ronald Torreyes beat up on resident favorite Sam LeCure by only 6 votes to claim the 19th spot on our list.  Torreyes had a stellar start to his minor league career last season, and will likely start this year on that loaded Dayton team.

Another interesting tidbit I want to discuss is that ESPN's Keith Law came out with his Top 100 list for this year.  Remember when we got peeved when someone called Chapman the 2nd best pitching prospect in baseball?  Law has 6 above him, for the 15th ranking overall.  He also had this to say about Chapman:

If he's willing to dial it down and pitch around 94-95 he could still be a No. 1 starter, although having a left-hander like this in the pen may be too much to resist.

I think the last part of that sentence is a good way to put Bavasi's comments into context a bit.  Chapman still has that potential to be at the top of a rotation, but I can at least see where he's coming from when he says that it's a guy you don't want to take out of the bullpen.

As far as our other guys to hit this list, Devin Mesoraco also made the top 50 (#31), and Billy Hamilton (#51), Yasmani Grandal (#59), and Yonder Alonso (#65) all finished in the 51-65 range.  It's an ESPN Insider piece if you want more of his thoughts on why he put the guys where he put them.

Same list today.  Vote.
